Game cancellations can be very frustrating for fans, and they seem to be happening with surprising regularity in recent years. In early January, Ubisoft's stock took a big hit after the announcement of six canceled games, including a remake Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Two games that recently backed out of their planned Xbox launch are still happening, though they'll be making it on other platforms.

Xbox fans will have to do without it 1348 Ex Voto and Nickelodeon Splat Packtwo games that were supposed to be released on the Xbox Series X|S but will now only be available on other platforms. Less than a week ago, news broke about a medieval action-adventure movie 1348 Ex Voto will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console, although a release was previously planned for the Xbox Series X|S. Developer Sedleo has announced that it is pulling out of Xbox in order to give its players “the best possible experience for PlayStation and PC,” the platforms for which the game will launch on March 12. While the indie development team didn't go into detail about the reasons for changing the platforms the game will run on, it sounds like they feel optimized. 1348 Ex Voto because one console in addition to PC will make their operations run smoother and Xbox is the unfortunate loser in this situation.
It is not yet clear how much of an impact the cancellation of the Xbox version will have on the game or the console. Based in Italy, Sedleo is a small development studio made up of 15 game industry veterans. It was founded only a few years ago, 1348 Ex Voto will be his first major acting venture. The game is set in a world ravaged by a plague, and early impressions of the game have drawn comparisons between it and the game Kingdom Come: Deliverance series and cast Jennifer English, winner of Best Performance at The Game Awards 2025 for her role in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33sure to excite many players.
Another upcoming game that was recently pulled from its planned Xbox launch is Nickelodeon Splat Packa collection of three games originally released in the 1990s that are based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoons and competition shows of the bygone era. The pack will be released on January 30th and will feature a video game adaptation of the sports competition show GUTSnext to AAAHH!!! Real monsters and Rock's Modern Life: Spunky's Dangerous Day. Limited Run Games, its publisher, reportedly stated that a version of this collection was planned for the Xbox Series X|S, but Nickelodeon Splat Pack will now only launch for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. No official reason has been given for the Xbox version's cancellation, and the announcement, which comes just days before a cross-platform launch, could easily catch potential players by surprise.
These aren't the only two games that have been canceled for Xbox in the past few months, though several other cancellations have come from Microsoft. Through the summer of 2025, Rare's cancellation Everwild and Perfect darkness Both were announced reboots, coinciding with layoffs at Microsoft-owned studios and the closure of Perfect darknessdeveloper studio The Initiative.
