Riot Games is launching the first season 2XKO with Caitlyn Kiramman joining the playable roster, although many players have probably noticed the odd launch time showing 2 dates. After a long development cycle that included the original reveal as Project L back in 2019, 2XKO finally launched in Early Access for PC players in October 2025. The launch included 11 characters and more will be added through seasonal updates, including the newest member arriving very soon.
Based on the incredibly popular Riot League of Legends franchise, 2XKO gives fans another way to enjoy the Runeterra universe even if the MOBA title isn't for them. 2XKO is a fighter that pits teams of two characters against each other. Although it can be played in the traditional 2v2 way, 2XKO introduces its own modifiers called Fuses to further customize their duo and playstyle, such as Juggernaut, which empowers a scoring character while completely removing assist options. While 2XKO the roster may not be as large as many other fighting games, the characters available are fairly unique, and more familiar faces are added every few months.
2XKO: Why You Should Play Even If You Hate LoL
Riot Games' new fighter comes from the world of League of Legends, but it will be a completely different gaming experience.
2XKO Season 1 Launch Times
After launching exclusively on PC in 2025, Riot Games is gearing up to add console players to the mix. In addition to Season 1, 2XKO announced the console's launch date as January 20-21, 2026, which may be a bit confusing for some gamers. Basically, it's a time zone situation, as the launch date and time is set for January 20th at 5:00 PM PT for the West Coast of the United States. This means that the Eastern time zone will be available at 8:00 PM ET, and international locations like London, Paris, Tokyo and others across the Atlantic Ocean will actually be available a day later on January 21st.
“Early Access” period of the year 2XKO gave players 2 new characters with Teem and Warwick while also applying a number of balancing tweaks to the existing roster. For Season 1, Riot confirms the arrival of Caitlyn Kiramman, Sheriff of Piltover. Carrying her signature hextech rifle, Caitlyn is more of a shooting type of character, so her game seems to revolve around zoning tactics. With regard to 2XKO is a 2v2 tag fighter, players will probably want to pair Caitlyn with someone who can cover ground like Vi.
While the well-known commodity of League of Legendsmany will also probably recognize Caitlyn as one of the main characters from the hit Netflix animated series known as Arcana. Her look in the debut trailer leans heavily on her LoL look, though players can also unlock a second costume for Caitlyn, giving her a body, ponytail, and mask instead of long hair and a top hat. While the trailer didn't reveal the Arcane outfit, given that other fighters like Ekko, Vi, and Jynx did, it's probably only a matter of time before Caitlyn gets at least one of those as well.
As for how she plays, her hextech rifle probably means she'll prefer to keep her distance from opponents. In addition to likely being a strong support character, Caitlyn will use her rifle to shoot at long range, either on the ground or from the air. She also has several traps available to keep her opponents guessing, including the bola trap and the bear trap. However, Caitlyn also has some mobility with bridge kicks and dodge rolls.
