Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma breaks free from Nintendo console exclusivity
Although Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma was technically available from June 2025, was a Nintendo console exclusive, and was even the launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, this console exclusivity ends in February 2026, when Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, giving those players access to the game for the first time ever. The game also released a PC version at launch, so it was never really exclusive to Nintendo.
The Rune Factory the series is not a traditional JRPG, although it features familiar JRPG action combat mechanics. Instead, it combines these combat features with farming and life-sim game mechanics such as Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon create a mix of cozy gameplay broken up by battles against corrupted monsters trying to attack the village that players are working hard to rebuild. No word yet on whether Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will hit Game Pass at launch, but even being available for purchase on Xbox is a win for the console's growing library of JRPGs.
