Characters from Dragon Ball franchises have become some of the most popular and iconic in the entire anime genre. Over the years, these characters have firmly established themselves among the most memorable in the entire industry, often going hand-in-hand with some of the greatest moments fans of the art form have ever seen.
For this reason, such a rich cast of heroes and villains will naturally arouse some anger among fans. Often this negativity is justified, but there are several Dragon Ball characters that are definitely over-hated for very small reasons, so in this article we'll go over the ones in the story that don't really deserve the hate.
Dragon Ball: The Strongest Characters Black Frieza Can Beat, Rated
Black Frieza is the most powerful mortal in the multiverse and even these powerful characters cannot match him.
Gohan's character arc rubbed some fans the wrong way
Grown into an adult
During the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball ZGohan quickly established himself in the minds of fans as one of the greatest characters of all time. However, his journey in the Buu Saga and later into the majority Cool he rubbed many the wrong way as he largely abandoned his fighting days and instead chose to live as a non-combatant who only wanted to be a scholar.
However, it should be noted that even in the Cell Saga, Gohan hated fighting despite being the strongest. He just knew it was something he had to do, which was compounded by how much he actually wanted to live a normal life. Of course, he's back in the limelight as one of the series' main fighters, so fans have started to change their minds about him.
Videl tends to get a lot of hate from the fandom
A misunderstood character
Admittedly, Videl was quite a divisive character once she debuted on the show. She was always on Gohan's back to train her how to fly and fight properly, which rubbed fans the wrong way and took their disappointment with her. Cool he also started
However, Videl's role in the story quickly changed to that of a mother who put her fighting and fighting days behind her. In the current setting, she takes a background role in the story, but her support for Gohan and her upbeat personality definitely make her a good character.
Dragon Ball: The strongest character in each arc, ranked
Each arc of Dragon Ball has many powerful characters, but there is always one that stands above the rest.
Goku's reserved nature is prone to criticism
The main character
As the main character Dragon Ball Goku is one of the most popular and recognizable faces in the anime industry. Despite this, he has received a fair amount of criticism in his time, mostly due to his aloof nature and his tendency to put the big battle above everything else, even to the detriment of others.
However, it should be noted that Goku has always been like this. Although he had his fair share of silly moments Dragon Ball Zmany of his more famous ones always had a logic behind them, with Cell giving the Sensa Bean particularly comes to mind. All in all, Goku is a martial arts genius and his absent minded nature is just a funny gag at times.

Chi-Chi has always been an incredibly loving wife
Beside Goku since the beginning
As a character, Chi-Chi is not everyone's cup of tea. This is because she has always had an incredibly strong personality, which can be seen in her loud outbursts and reprimands to the rest of her family. However, the best aspects of her character lie beneath this tough and repulsive exterior.
All things considered, Chi-Chi is one of the most loyal and loving wives one could wish for. Sure, she's hard on Gohan for becoming a scholar, but it's mostly because she wants him to have a good, peaceful life away from fighting. Plus, even years after Goku's death, she chose to wait for him, making her the perfect partner for the protagonist.
Yamcha is actually just a really cool guy
A punching bag of a story
Yamcha remained the main cast's longest resident punching bag Dragon Ball. While he never really grew in importance or power after the Saiyan Saga, he always played some sort of background role in the story, though it was more to be the point of jokes than to have a meaningful part of the arc.
However, I look at him now and see his arch inward Coolone can't help but feel happy for him. Yamcha isn't really punching above his weight anymore and has fully embraced his life as a baseball player, despite still being one of the most powerful people in the world. His willingness to help his friends despite the gulf in power is admirable, making Yamcha one of the coolest characters in the series.
