Dragon Ball Unveils Rare 36-Year-Old Goku Artwork From Frieza Saga's Final Battle
The official Dragon Ball site has revealed rare Frieza Saga Goku artwork from when Akira Toriyama drew the manga for Shonen Jump in 1990.
However, that doesn't mean Goku isn't powerful. Goku is one of the strongest anime characters of all time, especially now that he has unlocked and mastered Ultra Instinct. That means he's not even in the Top 5 most powerful characters in the series anymore, and that's not even counting the angels. Towards the end Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and the Super Hero Epilogue saga of the manga, Ultra Instinct Goku is weaker than his rival, his son, and even the other main villain of the series.
Vegeta defeated Goku in his final fight in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero
Goku never actually beat Vegeta in a fight, but there were always caveats to their battles. In the Saiyan Saga, Kaioken x4 gives Goku a higher power level than Vegeta's base form and even wins their beam fight. However, Vegeta considers the battle a failure as he had to transform into an ape and was still defeated by the combined efforts of Gohan, Krillin, and Yajirobe. In the Majin Buu Saga, Goku is stronger than Super Saiyan 2 Majin Vegeta because he held back Super Saiyan 3, but Vegeta knocks him out with a cheap shot.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero giving Vegeta a definitive, clean victory over Goku. The two spend the entire movie fighting in their base forms, and Vegeta delivers the final blow, knocking Goku to the ground before he falls. Being stronger in his base form doesn't necessarily mean that Ultra Ego Vegeta will be stronger than Ultra Instinct Goku, but as it stands, Goku has no victory over Vegeta, while Vegeta goes three-for-three and has a transformation that actively grows stronger during battle.
Gohan Beast is currently the strongest Saiyan in Dragon Ball Super
From Dragon Ball Super: Super HeroGohan regained his title as the strongest hero in Dragon Ball. In the Super Hero Saga epilogue of this manga, Ultra Instinct Goku and Gohan Beast even have a sparring match to see who is stronger. While the fight is interrupted, Gohan technically wins. Gohan Beast is so strong that he is able to completely knock Goku out of Ultra Instinct. If these two were to fight for real, Gohan would be the clear winner.

In a new edition of the Toriyama Archives, the Dragon Ball site dug up and shared Akira Toriyama's original Super Saiyan Gohan artwork.
In Saiyan Battle Royale, which takes place in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, Gohan is also the only character besides Broly who isn't worse at the end, indicating that he was the real winner. Whis even suggests to Beerus that Gohan could become the next God of Universe Destruction for the 7, and Beerus is particularly bothered by how strong Gohan is. While there is room for debate as to whether Ultra Ego Vegeta is outright stronger than Ultra Instinct Goku, Dragon Ball Super making it clear that Gohan Beast is stronger than both of them.
Beerus is Bench-Mark Goku cannot beat until the end of Dragon Ball Super
Beerus plays a very special role Dragon Ball Super as a measure of Goku and Vegeta's power. Whenever a Saiyan unlocks a new form, they are immediately compared to Beerus. Whenever a new villain is introduced, the story has to find a way to sideline Beerus from solving each saga's problem on his own. When Battle of the Gods released, Super Saiyan God Goku forced Beerus to use 70% of his full power; this has since been reattached Dragon Ball Super.
Conceptually, Goku can't be stronger than Beerus because that defeats the whole purpose of Beerus' character. Logic would dictate that Ultra Instinct would bring Goku closer to Beerus' power, but since Beerus has his own version of the UI at his disposal, Goku is still not on his level. Dragon Ball Super: Broly suggests that Gogeta and Broly urine to be stronger than Beerus, but considering how Whis effortlessly toyed with Broly, that's not realistic. If Goku ever surpasses Beerus and manages to defeat him, it will have to be at the very end Dragon Ball Super.
Black Frieza One-Shot Ultra Instinct Goku And Ultra Ego Vegeta
Frieza is back and stronger than ever. At the end of the Granolah saga, Frieza returns and reveals that he has been secretly training for years in a hyperbolic time chamber he found in the multiverse. Frieza then transforms into Black Frieza, kills Gase, and effortlessly defeats Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta at the same time with a single punch. Frieza decides to spare the Saiyans and flies off to continue conquering the universe. As Dragon Ball Super he immediately began to adapt Super hero after that, Black Frieza has not been seen since.
Dragon Ball officially reveals the 21 most popular characters in the franchise
As Dragon Ball The One moves into the final round, only 21 of the 212 characters remain.
Black Frieza is currently the strongest non-aligned character in the Dragon Ball and whenever he becomes the main villain of the series Dragon Ball Super is back from hiatus. Goku and Vegeta have been training intensively since then, but they will have to get many stronger just to stand a chance against Frieza. At this point, the main cast's best chance of defeating Frieza is either Gohan Beast or fusion.
Gogeta is the strongest super saiyan and character in the franchise – for now
It goes without saying, but a fusion that is half Goku will be stronger than Goku. Gogeta is the strongest character Dragon Ball Super, possibly even stronger than Beerus or Whis (although that has yet to be proven). Last seen in Dragon Ball Super: BrolyGogeta effortlessly fuses Broly in his base form, base Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan Blue. Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta is so powerful that he is even able to enter a new dimension during their battle.
Goku and Vegeta hate fusion with a passion, so fans are unlikely to see Gogeta again (and the same goes for Vegeta), but his power cannot be underestimated. Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta is a force of nature unlike anything else Dragon Ball seen before If Goku and Vegeta want a clear path to victory against Black Frieza, fusing into Gogeta one and last time is the obvious—and perhaps only—answer.
