Although he doesn't always evolve his Pokemon, Ash Ketchum from the original Pokemon The anime series has several fully developed allies. For example, his Charizard from the Kanto region is one of his most famous companions, especially since he came from a tragic past. Meanwhile, Ash's Sceptile is calm, cool and collected and renowned for his speed and agility.
Despite this, there are several Pokémon that Ash never added to his team, either as fully evolved Pokémon or even as their base stages. Many of these Pokémon fall into a category that fans call “pseudo-legendary” due to their amazing battle stats despite not being Legendary Pokémon. Others are not pseudo-legendary Pokémon, yet have powerful legacies of their own.
Absol is able to sense impending disasters
Years ago, many believed Absol caused these disasters
Deep in the mountains of the Hoenn region, a lucky Pokémon trainer may encounter a dark type known as Absol. This beautiful Pokemon is characterized by its bright white fur, dark blue claws, and a large comb-like horn that extends from the side of its face. Absol is very aloof and yet compassionate, with the ability to sense any disasters looming near his home. He appears before people to warn them, though sadly he was once thought to be a harbinger of such chaos.
Fortunately, many people discovered that Absol simply wished to help those around him. Ash is one of these individuals as he encountered the wild Absol who seemingly wished to harm the heroes after they met Jirachi. However, it was soon discovered that this Absol was Jirachi's protector and only wanted to bring him back home. Ash has met many Absols since then, but has never added one of these powerful Pokémon to his roster.
Hydriegon is feared by many people for its destructive abilities
Some say that it was humanity that caused the dark/dragon type to act this way
Currently the only known fully evolved dark/dragon type, Hydriegon is known for its terrifying and rather strange appearance. In addition to its main head, it also has two smaller heads in place of its front legs. These smaller heads have no brains; rather, they know how to bite into anything nearby. There are stories of the brutal Pokémon destroying entire cities, although according to recent Pokédex entries, Hydriegon was attacked by humans for its appearance a long time ago, resulting in its ferocious behavior.
In the games, Hydriegon is Ghetsis' main Pokémon, and it's obvious that the Dark/Dragon type absolutely hates its trainer. Meanwhile, Hydriegon made his animated debut alongside Carlita, a descendant of the People of the Vale. Ash encountered several Hydriegons as well as their pre-evolutions Deino and Zweilous. Most of the Hydriegons Ash has met are with their trainers, but with Ash's luck he could definitely meet and add one to his party.
Salamence is said to be the result of Bagon's dream
A Pokemon that should never get angry
A rare dragon-type Bagon, though lacking wings, dreams of one day being able to fly. As such, he practices flying by jumping off cliffs, his head protected by a large rock shell on top of it. After evolving in Shelgona, the dragon type rests in caves awaiting its final evolution. It then evolves into the winged Salamence, where it flies through the sky at top speed thanks to its immense joy. Some say this evolution was made possible by an intense wish the Dragon Pokémon made long ago as a Bagon and affected its genes.
Salamence is as well known for her unruly nature as she is for her longtime love of flying. Despite this, many trainers have been seen with the Dragon/Flying type or its pre-evolutions. One such trainer is Zinnia, the main character in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire Delta episode; since it was her partner Pokemon, Zinnia's Salamence was able to Mega Evolve into Mega Salamence. In Ash's case, he has seen several Salamences, though he has never caught one or its previous forms. However, since Ash has experience working with dragon Pokemon, he would definitely make a good trainer for Salamence.

Tyranitar is one of the most popular pseudo-legendary Pokemon
A dinosaur-like Pokemon that likes to fight
Since its debut in Pokemon Gold and Silver PokemonTyranitar was a constant favorite among them Pokemon fans. This dinosaur-like Pokémon is characterized by its armor-like body, which provides its amazing defense; however, a wise trainer knows to keep this Wild Pokémon away from Fighting-type Pokémon, as it is extremely weak against their moves. Despite this, many trainers are eager to have one of these amazing Pokémon on their team. After Mega Evolving, a Rock/Dark type Pokémon becomes even scarier in terms of strength and appearance, and won't even obey orders.
Because Tyranitar is often very independent and loves to fight, only a very patient and experienced trainer can work with Armor Pokémon. On their travels in the Johto region, Ash and his friends come across a lost Larvitar after being separated from its Tyranitar parent. The whole group bonded with the cute baby Pokemon, and although they said their sad goodbyes, they knew that it would be better for the little Pokemon to stay with its parents rather than train with them. However, if Larvitar were to stick with Ash, there is no doubt that he would become an amazing asset to his overall roster.
Steven Stone's champion ace is a shiny metagross
While many pseudo-legendary Pokémon are dragon-types, Metagross is one of the few that is not part of this category. An extremely rare steel/psychic type originally found in the Hoenn region, Metagross is said to have formed from the fusion of two Metangs. When two Beldum combine to form a single Metag, Metagross has four brains that work together. As such, he has the intelligence of a supercomputer and is able to calculate the next moves of his enemies and can even levitate in mid-air. This fantastic Pokemon can also Mega Evolve into Mega Metagross, during which it becomes much more ruthless. According to the Pokédex, if Mega Metagross senses that it will not be able to defeat an opponent, it will dig its sharp claws into its enemy. He then begins a countdown until he uses the Explosion move, hoping to make his opponent pass out, even at the cost of his own HP.
Steven Stone, the gem-loving champion of the Hoenn region, has Shiny Metagross, which can Mega Evolve into Shiny Mega Metagross. Other trainers such as Anabel, Paul, and Alain were also seen with their own Metagross, acting as some of their fiercest allies. While traveling in the Sinnoh region, Ash and his friends encounter the ferocious Metagross and his rival Magnezon, who love to battle each other. Although Ash had the opportunity to add both types of Steel to his roster, he chose not to. However, if Ash befriended the wild Metagross, he would be able to win a lot of particularly tough battles.
