My Hero Academia may be Deku's story, but the members of Class 1-A play a huge role in the whole story. Certain characters, like Bakugo and Todoroki, play major roles throughout, getting their own time to shine and contribute at major points in the story. The other members of Class 1-A are to play supporting roles.
While each member of Class 1-A has their own unique personality, one character that has been incredibly divisive with fans since the beginning is Mineta. Mineta's personality might turn some fans off, and compared to some of his other classmates, he's not that interesting both as a character and in terms of his wit. While he was never the main focus of the entire series, you can't help but think that Horikoshi would have been better off giving these characters some special attention.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Reveals the Sad Truth of Pro Hero Retirement
Vigilantes explores the dark side of professional hero retirement and reveals the harsh reality street heroes face as they hang up their capes.
Mashirao Ojiro
Ojiro's design really stands out, even among the motley cast of characters that make up Class 1-A. Despite being one of the most visually impressive members of the supporting cast, Ojiro is rather reserved and stays in the background for most of the series.
From what we see of him everywhere My Hero Academiahe is a great martial artist and his Tail Quirk makes him great in close combat. But Ojiro doesn't get much time to shine on his own, he's often part of the group and plays a supporting role. While he probably isn't a strong enough character to take on the likes of Bakugo, Todoroki, or even Ida, it would be great to give Ojiro a big moment like we got with Kirishima during the Shie Hassaikai Arc.
Mezo Shoji
Shoji is another of the more visually striking members of Class 1-A. While he had his moments, he felt like he had the potential to be a really interesting character. But for whatever reason, he never got enough development.
Shoji as a heteromorph was explored a bit in the series, but it was a theme that Horikoshi could have done more with. We have seen some of the discrimination that heteromorphs face My Hero Academia world, but it often felt like an issue that took a back seat to other story threads. Some fans criticized Horikoshi's handling of Heteromorph's narrative, but it could have been great if he had spent a little more time on it.
Kyoka Jiro
Jiro is definitely one of the most popular supporting characters in the series and is one of the most recognizable members of Class 1-A. Although she can be quite apathetic, she gets along with most of her classmates and is shown to be incredibly reliable when it matters most.
Jiro's love of music sets her apart from her peers, and her Jack Quirk headphones have come in handy more than a few times in the series. By the end of the year My herowe learn that Jiro has found success as a professional hero as well as a musician while helping Eri on her own musical journey. She may not have been in the spotlight much during the main series, but Jiro would be a great choice to lead a light-hearted spin-off sometime.
Mina Ashido
Mina may not be one of the most prominent members of Class 1-A, but she definitely stands out among the rest of the supporting cast. Her happy attitude and cheerful demeanor always brighten up any scene she's in, and she's proven to be one of the most important students when it comes to keeping Class 1-A's morale up.
Aside from being a fun and happy character, Mina has also shown some admirable qualities that show her incredible potential as a heroine. She is brave and willing to put herself in danger if it means helping others, and has great chemistry with her classmates, making it easy for them to coordinate and work together. Mina has had some great moments in the series, though it wouldn't be surprising if most fans want to see her do more by the end of the series.
Toru Hagakure
Hagakure was the most overlooked member of Class 1-A for most of the series. Class 1-A has a lot of big personalities, so it must have been difficult to give everyone their time to shine early on, but the easiest explanation for why Toru didn't stand out has to do with her Quirk.
Hagakure's Invisibility Quirk made her an easily forgotten character, simply because fans simply didn't see her most of the time. Sure, she was drawn to being somewhat visible thanks to her costume, but she often felt like a background character until later in the series. It would be nice if Toru was given a little more time and development, if only to better round out the Class 1-A roster.
Hanta Sero
Sero was one of the funniest members of Class 1-A, and while he proved to be an important member of the group throughout the series, he never got much of a chance to shine individually. His Tape Quirk might not seem like the most over the top in the series, but he managed to use it quite creatively, and Horikoshi himself stated that it was one of his favorite quirks.
Sero had a lot of potential to stand out on its own, but it never got the attention and development it needed. That's not to say he was a bad character; he just felt he needed to be perfected more than he was.
