Naruto: Kishimoto's original plans for his main character have been revealed

Kishimoto's original plans for Naruto were completely different. The story might fail if it stayed that way.

However, Naruto despite its strengths, it is far from a flawless series. The series also features characters that destroy some story arcs instead of uplifting them. For many fans, these characters have committed the crime of wasting their potential, creating pointless drama and turning memorable moments into memorable scenes. Here's a look at those characters in Naruto who completely ruined the series.

Danzo Shimura

Danzo Shimura is one of the most effective villains Naruto, whose actions against Konoha and the Uchiha clan earned him the collective hatred of the fans. From being a wannabe Hokage obsessed with power and control to orchestrating massacres behind the scenes, Danzo's plans are truly the worst of them all.

While Danzo had all the makings to be the perfect villain to set up the most amazing arcs NarutoHis character went from a calculating, intimidating presence to an average power-hungry villain whose final battle was flat and underwhelming. Izanagi spamming against Sasuke is not fun to watch; it turns what should have been an exciting showdown to the death into a lackluster fight.

Sakura Haruna

  • Next to Danzo, Sakura Haruno probably gets the most hate from the fanbase despite her huge role Naruto. Understandably, Sakura's personality isn't exactly the most likable, and her lack of incredible performances has left fans feeling like she's incompetent, poorly written, and overly dependent on Naruto and Sasuke.

Additionally, Sakura had a constant obsession with Sasuke, which irritated fans in the way that her character was shallow and frustratingly repetitive. Even though Sasuke was willing to kill Sakura, she couldn't care less about her safety and well-being. Not to mention that Sakura even seduced Naruto at one point by lying to him about loving him, which tripled the reaction.

Tenten

Tenten's Twin Rising Dragons jutsu in Naruto

Compared to the other female characters in NarutoTenten usually gets the least amount of screen time in both the manga and the anime. She may be a recurring character, but despite her huge potential as a weapon master, she gets almost no chance to shine. From the beginning to the end of the series, Tenten became nothing more than a slot addition to Neji's team, while her comrades constantly experienced memorable fights and emotional arcs.

As a result, Tenten was underpowered as a kunoichi, leaving fans frustrated that such a talented ninja, who had immense self-belief, was never given the chance to show the full extent of her abilities. In the end, she turned out to be someone who never went.

Neji's Death in Naruto (2)

In the Hyuga Clan, Neji is probably the most beloved member next to Hinata despite his unsympathetic personality during the Chunin Exams. After losing to Naruto, Neji apparently received a wake-up call that changed his outlook on life. During the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, Neji began to show real growth and earned fan recognition.

Unfortunately, no matter how awesome Neji grew up to be, the fact that he died a needless death in the Fourth Great Ninja War destroys the emotional payoff of his character. Most fans believe that his death was only used as a plot to strengthen the chemistry between Naruto and Hinata. To this day, his death still hurts fans because Boruto and Himawari lost the chance to meet an amazing ninja like him.

Hiruzen Sarutobi

Much of the hate that Hiruzen Sarutobi has received from fans is mostly due to fillers Naruto anime that portrayed him as overly careless and indecisive, so much so that he failed to properly handle what should have been his most critical duty as the Third Hokage.

No wonder Hiruzen was labeled as the worst Hokage of Konoha because he not only broke his promise to take care of Naruto Uzumaki like a parent, but also allowed Danzo to influence his decisions and act unchecked behind the scenes. He destroyed what could have been strong, decisive leadership and left the village vulnerable to hatred and corruption.

Kaguya Otsutsuki

When everyone thought Madara was the ultimate villain Naruto Shippudenthen came the overpowered alien that changed everything fans know about the series. Kaguya Otsutsuki's sudden introduction into the Fourth Great Ninja War robbed Madara Uchiha of his long-built threat and dramatic departure from the series. Her appearance also turned what was supposed to be an epic conclusion to the ninja wars into a confusing, divine spectacle that no one expected compared to the introduction of her children.

Additionally, Kaguya Otsutsuki came across as a boring character due to her rushed introduction to the series. She wasn't built up properly, so fans had little connection to her story, motivations, and personality.

Karin

Karin in Naruto (2)

For many fans, Karin embodies all of Sakura Haruno's worst qualities, almost as if she was created solely to deflect backlash from Sakura. She had no redeeming qualities as her defining characteristics, from her sassy personality to her excessive affection for Sasuke, made her underwhelming and unnecessary to the story.

Fortunately, Boruto the series does a better job of portraying Karin as a close friend of the Uchiha family. She is happy with Sasuke's choice and even shows her support for Sakura and Sarada. She also grew up and became the voice of reason on her team. He had Naruto he handled Karina's character better, fans might have wanted him to end up with sasuke and not sakura.
