As more and more fans get into the series, Jujutsu Kaisen fandom also becomes more vicious at times. One bad choice, one lost battle, one emotionally chaotic scene and the character becomes a meme. “Fraud.” “Butt.” “Useless.” It's funny until you realize how many times these poor characters are joking. Moral gray areas and impossible decisions, in a series built on trauma, it's impossible to judge characters based on their results alone.
Not all imperfect characters are poorly developed. Not all losses mean incompetence. And not all dubious acts of morality make a person inseparable. These eight characters are all over the place, but when you read what Gege Akutami is actually trying to convey, the hate usually speaks to the fandom rather than the character.
The 7 Greatest Survivors of Brutal Shinjuku Showdown Arc Jujutsu Kaisena
The Shinjuku Showdown arc in JJK was brutal and almost eliminated many fan favorite characters.

Yoshinobu Gakuganji
Gakuganji is often demonized as an old guard conservative who executed Yaga on his orders and targeted Yuji. Readers perceive him as a blunt tool of top management that thwarted development. In reality, he was also a victim of the system that he felt was saving the world from the uncertain danger of Sukuna.
What needs to be considered is that immediately after killing Yaga, he felt remorse and decided to keep the Cursed Corpses secret that most people overlook. He did not hand over this power to corrupt officials because he reserved it for a new generation. He's been able to prove that even a cog in the machine is capable of a conscience when it counts, and that makes him much more than just a mean headmaster.

Hana Kurusu (Angel)
Hana is also heavily criticized as she falls for Megumi's obvious act of Sukuna and loses her arm. The phrase stupid or pointless is used to criticize it on the basis that it fell short in such a high stakes.
But in the end, Hana is just a girl in love and Sukuna is a master manipulator who knows how to exploit human weakness. She wasn't looking at her monster; she was looking at the boy who had saved her life a few years ago, so tragically human was her reaction.

Naoya Zenin
Naoya is perhaps the most hated character because he is a misogynistic person and is unrealistically arrogant towards women, especially Maki. His character is objectively terrifying; however, he is a child of the corrupt environment of the Zenin clan, where cruelty was encouraged and a member of the elite. The treatment of Toji and Maki by the clan itself shows that the system was evil and Naoya was merely its most vocal participant.
Naoya, despite his flaws, is one of the most effective fighters in the series, possessing incredible speed thanks to Projection Sorcery. His battle IQ is top notch and fans remember his losses, but if he wasn't blinded by his own ego and if he used powerful cursed weapons, he would probably win every fight. He is a tragic example of how a prestigious upbringing can turn enormous talent into an instrument of self-destruction.

Mei Mei
Mei Mei is often blamed and considered the most lustful character in the show and no one can forget her bizarre relationship with her brother Ui -Ui. Both of these reasons and her selfish nature make her almost universally hated by fans. However, in a world where death is the order of the day, her cold realism is a realistic way to be a witch.
He provides much needed logistics, supervision and financial support to keep Jujutsu High running in the background. Although her personal life and motivations are debatable and unusual, her ability and technique, Bird Strike, is one of the few that can even gain a special rank once. She may not like her very much, but she deserves a much better fate.

Whoah Whoah
Poor Ui Ui also finds himself in the midst of hatred directed at his sister Mei Mei. He is the target of memes because fans dismiss him as a creepy sidekick with a strange obsession. However, considering Showdown Shinjuku, Ui Ui is perhaps the MVP of the final arc.
The lost bodies, the transfer of souls to training, or the tactical retreats of wizards would not have happened without his teleportation technique. He was basically a combat medic and supply center of the war on Sukuna. He has risked his life several times and his courage is shown to be the best despite his quirks.
Jujutsu Kaisen: 7 Anime Moments Better Than Manga
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is amazing, but there are things the anime did much better.
3
Hajime Kashimo
Kashimo was no longer the God of Thunder, but rather was referred to as the ultimate “fraud” when he was so quickly defeated by Sukuna's true form. This betrayed fans who accused him of being a fraud since he never did any major damage after transforming into the Mythic Beast Amber. This hatred ignores the fact that he was the only person who dared to jump into the ring right after Gojo was killed.
Kashimo spent his entire life in a single moment of fulfillment against the mightiest and died true to his warrior ideology. He had waited centuries for a worthy opponent and willingly challenged Sukuna at full strength. Losing him doesn't diminish him or his power in any way – but it was a way to show how strong Sukuna had become at that moment.
2
Yoroz
Yorozu is often seen as Sukuna's so-called fangirl who wasted her potential on a strange, obsessive love interest. Her appearance in the Culling Games was uncomfortable for fans, especially since she had Tsumiki's body. However, Yorozu portrays a distorted perception of love in the Heian era as one in which power and destruction were the only means of communication or connection with someone.
She wasn't just a fan, she was a force that defied the Curse King on her own terms. Her tragedy is the lonely pursuit of what she calls love, which can only manifest through death-to-death conflict, and makes her a dark mirror for Gojo and Sukuna. Her cursed technique was also one of the most unique and powerful in the series, and fans think it was a shame she didn't get a proper plot.
1
Megumi Fushiguro
The “Potential Man” memes have already hit their limits as fans refer to Megumi as a “bum” for failing to take control of his body in the final arc. Regardless, Megumi's soul had to bear several hits from Unlimited Void and he was also forced to watch his own baby sister get killed by her own hand. His refusal to fight was not cowardice, it was the result of a complete psychological and spiritual breakdown of a teenager who had lost everything.
Megumi has been carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders since childhood, and expecting her to simply wake up after such a trauma is ridiculous. Others forget that his tactical brilliance and the Ten Shadows were the only reason the group survived the initial arcs. He's no slacker—he's just a broken kid who's finally reached his limit in a world that has never stopped robbing him.
