The Boruto the series is no stranger to negative reception, especially when it comes to its titular protagonist Boruto Uzumaki. To this day, many fans refuse to heal Boruto as canon k Naruto lore, mostly due to a change in setting, main themes, and most importantly, the main character.
For them, instead of Boruto's journey, it is better to continue following Naruto Uzumaki as the Seventh Hokage of Konoha.
However, Boruto Uzumaki isn't the only character who can make eyes roll and raise eyebrows from fans. The sequel is full of unsympathetic characters trying to win over viewers for one reason or another. Unfortunately, fans can't stand them no matter what they do Boruto.
Naruto: Why Kishimoto Needs to Make a Boruto Prequel
Boruto is a disappointing sequel. Naruto has potential for a prequel to Boruto.
Boruto Uzumaki
-
Most fans hate Boruto because the sequel is about him instead of Naruto.
Boruto Uzumaki is the main character of the series, but that's the biggest reason why longtime fans can't accept him. In short, Boruto is not Naruto. Worse, he's the complete opposite of Naruto, who fought long and hard to get to where he is now.
As much as the creator wants viewers to avoid comparisons, it's inevitable for Boruto to be compared to one of anime's beloved heroes. It's the perfect setup for an ongoing feud, so it's no surprise that Boruto remains a hated character in his own anime and manga.
Konohamaru Sarutobi
-
Fans are disappointed with Konohamara's power progression.
Growing up as one of Naruto Uzumaki's rivals helped strengthen the will of fire in Konohamaru Sarutobi's heart. He wants to succeed Naruto as the next Hokage, but his performance is disappointing Boruto damaged his reputation. Also, the series isn't a big fan of Konohamaru, so it's hard for fans to appreciate him better.
As the new Team 7's teacher, Konohamaru should have been on par with Kakashi Hatake, if not higher. Despite his jonin status, he always relies on his students to save him in dire situations. Instead of leading the team, he often feels like his weakest link. Too bad, fans have high expectations for Konohamaru, but he never lives up to them.
Kawaki Uzumaki
-
Fans dislike Kawaki for his reckless actions and questionable decisions.
The Boruto the fandom is still divided when it comes to Kawaki Uzumaki. Some fans adore him for his cold personality and terrifying abilities, while others hate him for taking attention away from Mitsuki and Sarada. Furthermore, the fans refuse to forgive him after killing Boruto without hesitation and sealing Naruto into the Daikokuten dimension.
Kawaki usually makes questionable decisions and continues to do so even when those decisions endanger others and push him further down a dark and lonely path. No matter how cool Kawaki can be when fighting, his rash decisions and refusal to trust others make it difficult for fans to fully support him.
Code
-
Code was adored by fans, but it's easy to manipulate.
Initially, Code was a fan favorite mainly due to his great personality and character design. Over time, he became an unsympathetic villain whose constant losing, repeated exploitation, and poor decision-making stripped him of the qualities that made him both intimidating and compelling.
Remember when Code was the biggest villain Boruto after Isshiki Otsutsuki? After Eida and Daemon used him, Jura and the Shinju clones easily overpowered him. Boruto even stomped on him and turned the once terrifying villain into a character joke. The good news is that he can still redeem himself if the series allows it.
The Konoha Council
-
The Konoha Council brings more problems than solutions to the Hokage and the village.
After the death of Danzo Shimura, only two members remained in the Konoha Council, Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane. These two characters are notorious for getting in the way of progress and never fail to make questionable and outdated decisions that do more harm than good in the Leaf Village.
IN BorutoThe Konoha Council continues to meddle in the village's affairs. While they believe they are keeping peace and order in Konoha, they are causing unnecessary trouble for Boruto and his allies. Not to mention their timing is often terrible and adds pressure and tension at critical moments. No wonder most fans wait until they die of old age.
Amado Sanzu
-
Fans hate how Amado consistently withholds important information. He is overly suspicious.
Just like Naruto, Boruto the series never runs out of characters with hidden agendas and Amado Sanzu is one of them. The mad scientist never stops hurting everyone by keeping vital information, manipulating his creations, and making others doubt his true motives.
At this point in the story, Amado remains a suspect character that fans refuse to believe. Time and again, his actions blur the line between ally and enemy. This was Amado's habit from the beginning, making it almost impossible to predict his actions. He thinks of no one but himself and his daughter's resurrection.
Mamushi
-
His character and personality upset the fans.
Mamushi is one of the newest additions to the large cast Borutohowever, he quickly earned the ire of many fans. To them, Mamushi's character design is unpleasant to look at and combined with his vile and twisted personality makes him even more unlikeable. He may have a remarkable Shinju ability, but that's not enough for fans to favor him.
Plus, fans can't help but feel a little emotional whenever they see Mamushi's Rinnegan. Instead of using his visual abilities to maximum effect, Mamushi, like the other Shinju clones, ignores the powers of dojutsu. It's almost as if his Rinnegan is just part of his aesthetic, always on full display but unused.
Denki
-
Fans believe that Denki is too bland for the manga.
As fans know, Denki is an anime-only character, but that didn't stop fans from hating young Kaminarimon. Unlike his classmates, Denki is weak in combat, making him bland and boring to fans. It's rare to see him use a jutsu, let alone take down an opponent in a solo match. As such, fans believe it is not suitable for shonen manga Boruto.
While Denki usually shines in his own way when it comes to episodes where there are concerns about ninja science tools and technology in general, it still hasn't done fans. After all, most fans Boruto reject the integration of technological advances into the plot, feeling that it undermines the essence Narutothe ninja way.
