9 Pirates stronger than Yonko Monkey D. Luffy in one piece

Captain of the Straw Pirates, Monkey D. Luffy has come a long way from his humble beginnings in East Blue. Over the two years of his pirate career, Luffy has slowly but steadily gained a lot of power. Luffy advanced his Haki, awakened his Devil Fruit Gomu Gomu no Mi and reached the very top as one of the Yonks One piece world. It goes without saying that Luffy has become a top tier character One piece world, but still has to overcome some pirates, including ones like Shanks, who are still alive.

Scopper Gaban

Scopper Gaban was one of the most legendary members of the Roger Piratesthe crew that captured the Grand Line.

In the stream One piece In the timeline, Gaban is quite old and may have trouble defeating Luffy due to his lack of stamina. However, during his prime, Gaban remains superior to Luffy, especially when it comes to Haki. Luffy needs to perfect his Haki before he can overcome the pirate king's left arm.

Rayleigh had incredible Haki and he and Gaban were said to be on par with Roger. Luffy still has a long way to go before he reaches the level of Pirate King or his wings.

Whitebeard

For a long time, Whitebeard was known as the strongest man in the world. He retained his title until his inevitable death, during the events of the Summit War. Despite his illness and old age, Whitebeard was still able to destroy the marines.

During his prime, Whitebeard was one of the greatest and a rival to Roger. Whitebeard remains one of the greatest Yonks when he lived and his best results are definitely above Luffy.

Blackbeard

Blackbeard is the current Yonkoalongside Luffy and one of the most dangerous characters on the high seas. Blackbeard was strong even before the acquisition of his Devil Fruits. However, after eating Yami Yami no Mi and Gura Gura no Mireached new heights of power. He has yet to reach his true potential One piecebut still he's definitely better than Luffy at this point.

Rocks D. Xebec

Rocks D. Xebec was a huge mystery One piecebut everything about him was revealed during the God Valley Incident of One Piece. Fans clearly saw a good glimpse of his power, and that's a fact Rocks D. Xebec is one of the strongest One Piece that ever lived.

In his prime, Rocks far surpasses current Luffy. Rocks Haki is incredibly powerfulwhich allowed him to easily defeat the strongest Saint Knight and even the Admiral with ease. The rocks might have gotten stronger if he didn't have to face Im so soon.

Go D. Roger

Go D. Roger it is the most legendary name there is One piece world. During his pirate years, Roger was able to achieve the impossible. He conquered the Great Line, found One Piece, and thus earned the title of Pirate King. So far, no one else has achieved this feat in One Piece. Luffy tries to carry on Roger's legacy and become the new pirate king. This means that Luffy is still not on Roger's level, which is especially evident from his performances in God Valley.

Shanks

Shanks may be the single most powerful pirate alive today in One pieceand easily one of the strongest of all time. Born to a heavenly dragon father, Shanks forged his own destiny and embarked on a journey with Roger. He later became a Yonk.

Shanks is much better than Luffy at this point. While Shanks doesn't use Devil Fruit abilities, he instead goes all out with his Haki. Shanks' Haki is on a whole other level, even comparable to Joy Boy.

Davy D. Jones

Davy Jones is a name that fans did not expect to have such significance in the final saga. After all, Davy Jones' name was first mentioned in Long Ring Long Land, an arc that many people tend to overlook.

In Elbaf, however Davy D. Jones was revealed to be the ancestor of Rocks D. Xebec and Blackbeardas well as the previous king of the world. Jones is one of only two pirates that Imu is truly afraid of, and that alone means that he was much stronger than current Luffy in his time.

Joy Boy

Joy Boy is the strongest pirate who ever livedand one that Luffy will eventually have to overcome. Joy Boy was the previous Nika from WWII. While Imu died, he was incredibly powerful and Imu still fears him after 800 years.

Joy Boy has the best Haki ever see in One piecea glimpse of which was given in Egghead, and fans can't wait to learn more about him as the story unfolds.
