Patent Nintendo published on February 6 Switch 2 The Joy-Con mouse function provides fans a deeper view of the details of the hardware upgrade for other Nintendo controllers. According to Nintendo patent (via Arstechnica), filed back in August 2023 and published on February 6, 2025, the Switch 2 Joy-Cons will have a brand new hardware function that will allow them to use similarly as a computer mouse. The patent demonstrates the internal structure of these innovative controls that use light sources and sensors, similar to optical computer mice to allow users to slip joy on a straight surface and produce movement on the screen. This gives players the ability to hold joyful -ons with the side of the sensor down and move the controller around as a mouse, and at the same time using the familiar faces and shoulder buttons, as well as the joystick. The ability to choose between standard holding and holding a mouse means that players have more control over the use of Nintendo Switch 2 hardware to play, offering greater functionality depth compared to the existing switch Joy-Con.
