Six Ea And Codemasters have been quietly pulled out of Steam without notice, and several players are expected to be confused. All these games were originally developed and/or published by CODEMASTERS, but a few years ago they were folded into the EA label.

As one of the oldest British gaming studies, Codemasters have been created with franchises of racing Grid and Dirtas well as licensed titles as F1 games. In 2021, EA CODEMASTERS won and gained control of the developer's extensive backward catalog. Unfortunately, the publisher seems to be the recent removal of some of the old Codemasters from the prominent PC Gaming Storefront Steam.

Recent leaks have painted a good picture of what Battlefield 6 fans can expect, and the game seems to carry one strong suit.

Since several EA games have already been closed and made unavailable to purchase in recent months, it seems that six titles of Codemasters have also joined the list, specifically FlashPoint Operation: Dragon Rising, Toybox turbo, The rise of the argonauts, Maelstrom: Battle of Earth begins, Damnationand Hospital Tycoon. According to Steamdb, each of these games was marked with the update “App_retired_publisher_request” on Friday, March 14, indicating that this suggests EA itself applied for removal. Especially while FlashPoint operation and Toybox turbo Codemasters were developed, the remaining four were published only by study.

  • Damnation

  • Hospital Tycoon

  • Maelstrom: Battle of Earth begins

  • FlashPoint Operation: Dragon Rising

  • The rise of the argonauts

  • Toybox turbo

Since all six games were issued before the acquisition of Codemasters EA, their removal from Steam raised some concerns about how the publisher manipulates older game licenses under control. At the time of writing, neither EA nor Codemasters gave an official statement explaining why these games were removed or whether they could return to Steam in the future. When increasing uncertainty, these titles are currently listed on the GOG Dream list, where players can vote for older games they would like to see on the PC.

Although their integration into the dream list does not guarantee that games will get into GOG, it suggests that there is at least a certain requirement to remain accessible. Digital removal of the showcase has become more common in recent years, even across the main platforms such as Xbox and PlayStation, often due to expired licensing agreements, low sales or business decisions to focus on a newer edition. Fortunately, GOG will pick up the game on the PC by providing executable files without DRM for more than 100 games that basically grant the buyer full ownership instead of a mere license.
