In the Baldur Gate 3, your companions live with you. In Cyberpunk 2077 they live on your phone. Both RPGs are some of the biggest 20 years of 20th century and show two very different strategies for manipulating a mechanic that keeps fans to return to RPGS again and again.
Different sides, different priorities
Some of these differences by a source of different identities LARIAN and CD project red. Larian produces a strategic RPG and a tactical team -based struggle actually doesn't work without more characters to control the player. The Red CD project is produced by a third party action game in the case of Witcher 3, shooting the first person in Cyberpunk-A for these meetings you do not need companions alongside your side. They can be useful (I think the mass effect), but they are not necessary for the system to work on a basic level.

Baldur's Gate 3 is the new Minecraft
With so many community content, there are dozens of users of created ways to experience Baldur's gate 3.
As a result, The Witcher 3 has fantastic characters, but they are not traditional companions. They could be indicated on the task, but they were not long -term members of your party. Yennefer, Dandelion and Triss were all great characters, but you only saw them at the set times in the story. With Cyberpunk 2077, Technology allowed the CD project Red to expand this approach. No, not the technique in the real world; Technology available in the game. Because Cyberpunk was set up in the future, it could use a mobile phone for text and calls. This also meant your friends could call or text you to speak even if you weren't nearby.
Cyberpunk 2077 does not have a traditional party that follows and fights you, but Judy, Panam, River and Kerry served as a more realistic view of companions. They are friends, people you can plan with to hang up but not always with you. In this way, Cyberpunk 2077 had access to companions who were more closely matching our atomized presence. They do not live with you, but maybe they will be able to meet when you are both free.
Reality or situational comedy
Baldur's Gate 3's Party (and Traditional RPG Party) is much closer to a situational comedy. It is a group of friends (or maybe phrenemies) who are always hanging together. In RPG, the characters meet to achieve a common goal, but as a situational comedy gives you an idealized view of adult friendship. Baldur's Gate 3 and Sitcoms imagine a world where college may never end, and you and your friends are together, live together, eat together and go to adventure together.
I love Baldur's Gate 3 Party, but it's really just a portrayal of something we've seen a million times before. It can be the best rendition of this approach to the party, but it's still known. Cyberpunk 2077 is newer and closer to real life. Mobile phones mean that our friends are always available for chatting, but as Cyberpunk 2077 shows, they are not always available. Baldur's Gate 3 is a better game, but I'm excited to see that another game (maybe another wizard or cyberpunk) builds on what CDPR has achieved.
Most RPG parties are held by a necessity, including those in the Baldur Gate 3. They are all invested in performing the task and dissolve as soon as it is done. It's a sad-like long-term Sitcom-but that's what happens when you reach the end of a certain phase of your life. Cyberpunk 2077, however, offers a view of a party where friendship is not concentrated on the necessary task and as a result it is not mandatory. The characters hang out because they want to meet, not because they have to.
