During the recent day of the Red Bull game media, I had the opportunity to sit with Ivan “Razor” Martín Díaz and Marek “Humanoid” furious from Fnatice. The famous ESports organization is one of the oldest teams in the history of League of Legends, which becomes the champion of the One season of One and acts as permanent applicants on the emerging European scene. Unfortunately, they did not have the division of the title since summer 2017.
So it's an interesting time for Fnatic. The main trio of Razork, Humaniod and Oscar “Oscarinin” Muñoz Jiménez has been on the spot for two years, but the team recently took a big step replacing its renowned lower lane by two European veterans in Mihael “Mikyx” Mele and Elias. “Grabzz” Lohmannem.
Success is relative
After the third place in the Winter Split Playoffs 2025, Fnatic is trying to mount another challenge this spring. For humanoid, however, another high goal is not proud of.
“[The year is] “We haven't won anything yet. I would say … It's not great. At the same time we have a pretty good chance to win.”
2024 was a typical year for Fnatic: still clearly one of the best teams in Europe, but objectively not the best, lost twice with the G2 Esports in the subsequent home finals. The season was limited by the disappointment of the ascent at the Swiss Stage of the World Championship (Worlds).
Fnatic did not complete in the first eight worlds since 2020, the statistical illustration of the recent team performance; Good enough to be there, not good enough to have an impact.
The common criticism of Fnatic last year was the team of the team. Sometimes it seemed that the team was powered by an instinct rather than clear communication and planning. The big reason why Fnatic fans are more optimistic this time is the addition of Grabbz and its coaching staff and replacing the all -Korean lower lane with two known European quantities.
“Before [Miky and Upset] He joined with Noah and Jun, the communication was a bit strange, “explains Razork. I don't know if it was because of a language barrier or anything else. I feel better with Miky and Arufy.
Race with three horses
In the winter division it was quite a surprise when Karmine Corp, rather than the permanent G2 Esports champion, eventually won in a dominant way. Karmine Corp would continue to represent Europe at a new international tournament, where after a gross start, the French organization finished second behind Korean Hanwha Life Esports.
But it wasn't a surprise for a humanoid that claimed that every professional in Europe knew that G2 Esports, Karmine Corp and Fnatic were the three best teams in Europe, “because we played each other from the beginning, you could say they're good,” he said.
Although European believers were pleased to see that Karmine Corp exceeds the Chinese highest esports and Taiwan's flying oysters to finish second in the tournament, there are still a lot of skepticism to get second.
“I wouldn't say it's likely, but there's a chance,” explains the humanoid, while Razork nods his head in agreement. “Just because the KC defeated one Chinese team, in fact, LPL is not wrong, so we just have to see.”
Given the rise of Karmine Corp, Europe now has the three best teams, with many showing Mkoi as a potential fourth best team. Despite the recent KC triumph, a couple still believes that G2 is the team that beat.
“I would say that G2 is the hardest,” Razork says without hesitation. “That's just my personal experience. I feel that they are very disciplined. I feel that KC and Mkoi are more willing to risk in certain aspects of the game, but I feel G2 are so disciplined and stable, do not make too many fundamental mistakes so you have to play very clean to get into the lead.”
Gulf's ability
One of the most interesting development recently, the European League of Legends is the Los Ratones formation, a team that balances a personality with competing ambitions, created by popular streamer Marce Robert “Caedrel” Lamont. Los Ratones surprised a lot by winning the Winter division of Masters EMEA, the most prestigious regional competition under LEC.
Los Ratones is unique in that the team flows every scrimmage, giving you a backstage view of the processes of the professional League of Legends team. However, this pillar Los Ratones also means that they do not tend to scrim versus teams that hesitate to publicly stream their practices for competitors and fans.
Currently, Los Ratones is the best team in Europe outside LEC. However, the couple believe that there is a massive bay between the European regional leagues (ERLS) and the LEC and, as a result, they also believe that Los Ratones will not reach far in the European Supreme League.
There is no promotion and descent in LEC because it is a franchise league. The only way Los Ratones could play in LEC is to pay for a franchising place that costs millions.
“I would say it would probably be a solid ninth or tenth,” says Razork. “I think there are teams that are equal to them, but yeah, they dealt with the ERL teams, so it's hard to say. They'll have to play a lot to see what their real level is because the ERL and teams Lec are on a different level right now.”
When our conversation was shrinking, I asked Razorec on an important question. Given the rare information he had about me, he thought my sejuani was better than his? Immediately after he asked this question, the humanoid began to shake his head because he knew that the truth was immediate.
“I don't know about your Elo, but … my sejuani, I would say he's quite f ** the king bad. There is a chance that your Sejuani is better than mine, yeah.” The following nod from the humanoid was all the validation I needed to know that it was an absolute truth.
Fnatic has a competitive upcoming weekend and plays Mkoi and G2 Esports. These matches will take place on April 26 and 27 April.
