Sega believes in the coexistence of comfort and creativity using AI tools.
AI is a huge point in the game at the moment. While many developers invest in this technology, such as Microsoft, which replaces hundreds of employees for technology, fans and players continue to refuse to use it. We only saw it last week when League of Legends: Wild Rift and Pokemon published content that was suspected of being created by AI, and have seen games like Ark: Aquatica, Changes, Call of Duty, Inzoi and Guitar Hero, all fell on the publication complaints.
Despite the will, however, developers do not seem to be phase, and in a recent lecture, Sega has admitted to the creation of the “generative AI” committee that helps integrate tools within the company's workflow.
Sega has an internal generative AI committee
During the lecture at CEDEC 2025, one of the largest Japanese developer conferences, two representatives of Sega, Daishi Yokoshima (Technical Director for Planning and Research) and Atsuki Yagi (Technical Director of Technology), discussed the use of generative AI to develop games.
The status of the pair (over 4gamers) that AI is used in several areas of games, including “code generation, generating images and generating movement”, but only for “internal testing purposes”. However, they suggest that there are “some expectations for new creative persecution”, including “automatic generation of stories and dialogue”.
The coexistence of comfort and creativity is possible.
While Sega is obviously a bull on technology, with one of her presentation images, which states that “we are entering an era where AI cannot be used”, they believe that “coexishes to comfort and creativity”, generative AI creates time for developers to create new ideas and experience. For this reason, he created the AI generative committee.
The aim of the Committee is to address questions, develop AI tools, collect and examine the latest AI information and perform proper care for technology. He also created a guide that includes “several pages”, full instructions, framework and use conditions.
The company claims that it does not plan to make blanket judgments, instead participate in a dialogue with those who want to use this technology, for example: “This is okay for prototyping or verification purposes”.
It seems to be largely responsible with the use of generative AI, but plans for its developers to use tools next to their work are the best scenario in this situation. We hope it is not a slippery slope to loss of work.
