At the beginning of this year, a huge round of release of Microsoft resulted in the abolition of the perfect dark restart and developer that the initiative closed. During this period, 9,000 employees from various studios were released, along with the abolition of a number of games. Although there was a weak hope that perfect darkness could be saved, the agreement eventually collapsed over ownership rights.
We will not have a perfect dark restart at the moment. About two months after this terrible day, some details of the game and conceptual art for the canceled project appeared online. These details come from the screenshots and documentation shared by a former employee of the close period when it was canceled.
Perfect Dark represented an adrenaline system that would affect the appearance of Joanna
According to MP1ST, which has gained access to these details, the vision of the perfect dark restart was to introduce the series again while maintaining its basic DNA intact. HBO Show Westworld was used as a reference for this vision because it reimaginated the classic IP and at the same time introduced newer themes. Until April this year, this initiative worked on the first playable evidence of the concept. There is also evidence that suggests that this could follow the episodic format.
Some features of the game were also described in detail in the documentation, especially in the adrenaline system. The game would treat adrenaline as a source that would regenerate over time and give Joann special abilities. These include healing, increased damage and defense, dodging, improved focus and even slowing time. Reportedly, killing enemies would increase the effect of slowing time.
Pictures in the document reveal different areas of the game. The most interesting, however, is one of Joann Dark, who holds the weapon because it shows her more so far hair and looks visibly shaken. This could suggest that the adrenaline system also affects its appearance.
The functions sound quite great and the initiative would probably cook even more because the development continued. Unfortunately, none of this will be seen to realize.
