Laura Bailey and Erin Yvette Reveal Their Favorite Episode 'A Lot of Big Decisions Are Made'

Send is a branching narrative game from AdHoc Studio, a team of ex-Telltale developers who know a thing or two about choice-based storytelling. The choose-your-own-adventure game follows former superhero Robert Robertson, who ends up working at a chaotic emergency dispatch center after losing his suit and temporarily demoting him from superhero to dispatcher. Instead of shutting down bad guys, he now makes split-second decisions through the headset, and those decisions come back quickly. The entire game lives and breathes relationships that players participate in either building or destroying, so each new conversation is as important as the last.

In a recent interview with Game Rant, voice actors Laura Bailey (The Last of Us: Part 2, A critical role, Marvel's Spider-Man 2) and Erin Yvette (Hades 2, A wolf among us, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon) talked about the time they were working on Send and why just one episode stood out for them. Both immediately named episode 4 as their favorite, teasing that this is where things really start to pick up in the story. Without spoiling anything, they've hinted that this is the point where some big choices come hard and the relationships players have built finally start to pay off, raising the stakes in a way that sounds like it'll catch a lot of players off guard.

Veteran storytellers should be familiar with how adventure games are chosen Send they work, with the player's dialogue choices generally having a far greater impact on the narrative than many choice-driven RPGs can compete with. By Erin Yvette, Episode 4 Send is one such episode, as it seemingly puts the player in a position where the choices they make will greatly alter their relationships with certain characters. When asked what their favorite episode was and why, Yvette broke the ice with “I love 4” and then explained:

“There's a lot of big decisions to be made. I also think it's an episode that shines a lot of light on certain characters and just adds some depth and nuance to Robert's relationship with them and just your general understanding of where they're coming from and what they're looking for — why they're there and what they want.”

Hearing Yvette confirm that episode 4 was her favorite episode, Bailey immediately chimed in with an emphatic, “I was going to say 4!” With that, there is a good chance that episode 4 Send contains one of the greatest moments of the game, given that the two agreed so adamantly on it. Bailey added,

“I think Episode 4 starts off in a very solid way that Nick and Pierre were like 'Here it is! Get ready, Laura!'

Now, even though both Bailey and Yvette agreed that episode 4 Send was their favorite, AdHoc Studio founder Nick Herman and Pierre Shorette “Here we go! Get ready, Laura!” the direction suggests that the Invisigal will play a significant role in Robert Robertson's arc during the episode. Of course, this can only depend on the choices players make throughout the game's story, as actor Aaron Paul confirmed during a previous interview that recording dialogue for Send it took roughly two years due to the amount of different paths players can take and the large cast of characters involved.

However, this will occur if Send actors Laura Bailey and Erin Yvette preemptively decided that the fourth episode of the game is their favorite, then chances are they are not alone. At the very least, players might want to pay special attention to their choices regarding Robert's relationship with the Blonde Blazer and the Invisigal during the episodes preceding 4, in light of how Yvette and Bailey agreed on his importance to the narrative.
