Battlefield RedSec is a free-to-play battle royale alongside Battlefield 6. The Warzone-style battle royale takes place on a large map called Fort Lyndon. A hundred players land and only one team can win. Vehicles, destruction, and custom weapon equipment are available to let you bring your favorite weapons into battle.
There are also plenty of new mechanics to tackle in RedSec, such as completing missions, looting weapons and accessories, and accessing vehicles. It's all a bit overwhelming at first, so this step-by-step guide will help you win your first game.
How to get access to your own stockpile of weapons in RedSec
Custom Weapon Drops are an essential part of RedSec. Basically, you'll get a notification during the turn that a Custom Weapon Drop is landing in your area. This makes it possible everyone on your team opportunity choose one of their favorite weapons take into battle.
You choose these popular weapons through the weapon customization screen. You can have up to eight favorite weapons at once. If you're not sure what works well in RedSec, check out our list of the best RedSec weapons here.
You can also earn Custom Weapon Drops for completing missions. We will cover this in more detail below.
What it means is you will need to level up your weapons to unlock the best side dishes. Weapon progression is relatively fast in RedSec, but you may need to take your weapons into regular multiplayer (if possible) to quickly unlock additional attachments.
Where to drop Battlefield RedSec
RedSec begins like any other Battle Royale: you and your team must jump from a height and parachute down to a point of interest. They exist more points of interest across the Fort Lyndon map, each with loot boxes and weapons available upon landing.
It isn't meta landing place (at least not yet) as the loot boxes seem to be random and fairly spread out around the POI. You can either choose to land hot (where there are a lot of players) or choose to play a little slower from the edge of the map.
Avoiding the ring
Unlike other Battle Royales, the ring that slowly encircles the map in RedSec does extremely dangerous. He'll kill you with a tick or two of damage, and even if he gets close, the screen will be covered in all sorts of debris, making combat right on the edge almost impossible.
Pay attention to the ring. It moves quickly and usually moves continuously. You'll often have to make early decisions, which requires a little more strategy: move early, position yourself somewhere in the ring, and avoid getting caught on the edge as a lot of other units start pouring in.
You can use Zipline Towers to quickly relocate using a parachute to cover greater distances. There are also boats, jeeps, and golf carts that you can use to travel around the map.
Completing missions in RedSec
Missions are essential. They can be accessed shortly after the game starts through the map. Once you accept a mission, you will be given objectives on your map that must be completed within a short time frame. It could be something like planting a bomb, destroying Intel packages, or aligning two antennas. There isn't a lot of variety here, so after the first few tries you'll be able to fall into a memorized pattern.
Mission rewards
The reason you want to complete as many missions as possible is because of the valuable rewards you can get. These can be Custom weapon drops dropped at your position, weapon packs, vehicle trailer keys and more. Rewards can be checked before accepting a mission via the map.
How to get vehicles in Battlefield RedSec
To access a vehicle in RedSec you will need a Vehicle trailer key. These are either found in world loot (very rare) or dropped via mission rewards. Once you get the key, you can use it to access the Vehicle trailer which is indicated by a small image of a tank on your map.
There will be a short wait for the vehicle's trailer to open (and it's extremely loud, so watch out for enemies) and then you can drive the vehicle out of the trailer.
Vehicles have very limited ammo (as balance), but you can restock at vehicle supply stations that you'll find scattered around the map.
