Some of the best zombie games also happen to be multiplayer games. For example, both Left 4 Dead the games are more fun when a whole squadron of four players is killing zombies. Even spiritual successors, Back 4 Bloodis the same and then there are also different zombie modes Call of Duty games.
Killing slow or fast zombies with friends is a blast, but it's also fun to face them alone. This can increase the horror factor and create truly memorable sequences that players will never forget. Whether infected with a virus or parasites, these zombies are terrifying in the following single player games.

Resident Evil 3 got a solid remake in 2020 after its success Resident Evil 2 remake. It saw the return of Jill Valentine as the leader, who returned to Raccoon City to complete some business with Umbrella. What she found was a city infested with zombies and a stalker chasing her, Nemesis.
Resident Evil 2 is a more puzzle oriented horror game while Resident Evil 3 it's more action-packed with less puzzles, more scares, and tighter gunplay. Both games are horror masterpieces as far as zombie iterations go.
The last of us

The last of us has two types of enemies, with humanity being arguably the biggest threat in the post-apocalypse. Zombies in this universe are infected with parasitic fungi that transform them into various forms of the infected, typically called clickers. Clickers are brutal, fast and even a few scratches or bites can mean the end of a player.
This is why stealth and takedowns are a big part of the game as well as crafting. The last of us is one of the best stories in gaming and the zombified humans are just part of the drama.
Days gone
Watch out for the Hordes
Days gone is another PlayStation forward game set in a post-apocalypse, but these zombies are more traditional with a bit of a twist. These zombies are fast, and their deadliest form appears in swarms that look like waves of ants rushing through forests or hunting players on the road.
These zombie swarms are some of the scariest creations a game has ever put to digital paper. In addition to zombies, there are also survivors who want to take the player down, but the most amazing feature of the game is cruising through the Oregon wilderness on a motorcycle.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a remaster of the original game, which was like Capcom's attempt to make a dumber zombie game. Players get stuck in a mall in Colorado that is teeming with slow zombies. Players can use anything they can find to take them down, from guns to lawnmowers to ashtrays.
Players can also craft weapons to make them more effective, and their characters will also level up. As the days go by quickly, there are time constraints, but even with those constraints, this remaster is just as fun as the original on Xbox 360 in terms of satisfying ways to kill zombies, and that's practically Dead Rising's warranty as series.
Dead Island 2
Quick and dead
Dead Island 2 is set in LA, so everything looks bright, colorful, and overpriced, which is the perfect setting for a zombie game that creates a sense of concurrency. Players can choose from several characters, each with special abilities and stats, from melee masters to speedsters.
Whoever players choose, they can fight wild zombies that won't hold back, but luckily there are plenty of weapons to find and craft. Electrifying your machete or spilling gasoline to light up a trail of zombies are two great ways to fight the undead in this RPG. There is full campaign co-op, but it's not necessary as the single player game is well balanced.
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
A new standard for DLC
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare was released as DLC to the main game, although it is standalone and takes place in a supernatural version of the old west. The main character, John, finds himself on the same map as the main game, albeit littered with zombies and other supernatural creatures.
The story is played comically like a fun 50s B-movie, but the action is nothing to joke about. It's amazing that Rockstar turned almost the entire map into a zombified wasteland, which increased the interest of other developers on how to make good DLC.
Yakuza: Dead Souls
Kamurocho attacked
Yakuza: Dead Souls is a spinoff of the series, but is still primarily set in the fictional Kamurocho district of Japan. From Kazuma to Goro, players will control familiar characters in the series and move through linear scenarios, battling the undead as they progress.
It's more action than survival horror, as players rarely have to worry about ammo or health while killing zombies and other mutations. It's fun in addition to the main drama, which can be repetitive, but also comforting because Yakuza the characters are a fun act to travel with in any scenario.
Lollipop Chainsaw
Buffy But With Zombies
Lollipop Chainsaw it's about as over the top as a game can get, almost like a zombie version Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Heroine Julia uses her titular chainsaw to cut her way through hordes of zombies to the rhythm of original and classic pop songs. Music plays a big role outside of background tunes in the game, as the zombie bosses are all parodies of bands.
Unfortunately, the best way to play the game now is the remaster, RePOP Lollipop Chainsawwhich cuts a lot of licensed tracks. It's still fun, but if players get their hands on the original copies, like on the PS3 or Xbox 360, those are the most rewarding versions.
