Pokemon GO increases storage limit

Pokemon Go it further increases its storage space, giving players additional space for their items as well as creature storage. As a live service title, Pokemon Go is constantly evolving through new updates, usually adding new creatures to catch, limited-time events to participate in, as well as fresh seasonal content every few months.

With the continued appearance of new Pokémon and all the ways to obtain items, storage capacity remains a major factor Pokemon Go. While players usually need to purchase storage upgrades, Niantic recently provided everything Pokemon Go trainers with the free Item Bag expansion. As a token of appreciation to the community, players have received 400 free slots in their Item Bag as part of a new set of level-up rewards recently added to the game. As if that wasn't enough, Niantic just announced that the storage capacity limit has also been expanded.

Pokemon GO increases storage capacity even further

In an unexpected and surprising move, Pokemon Go announced that it has further increased the storage capacity for players. For Pokemon storage, the app has expanded the capacity limit by 650, now capped at 11,150. Similarly, Niantic has also increased Item Storage by 650, pushing the Item Bag limit up to 10,500. With the added capacity, players can purchase storage upgrades Pokemon Go save by spending 200 coins to unlock another 50 slots.

Interestingly, this is the third major storage capacity upgrade Pokemon Go seen so far in 2025. Previous Pokemon Go the increase in storage capacity came ahead of the annual Go Fest events in June. The move was appreciated by trainers as Go Fest events usually feature different Pokémon to capture, with some wearing special themed outfits for the occasion. This year also featured a three-part Ultra Unlock event along with the reappearance of Zacian and Zamazenta in raids.

Pokemon GO is changing the storage limit

The storage upgrade is also likely to come in handy during December's Community Day v Pokemon Go. As was the case with the game last year, December's Community Day will be a year-round celebration, with Saturday and Sunday bringing back all previously featured creatures in Pokemon Go for 2025. Karrablast, Shelmet, Vanillite, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Pawmi will appear on December 6th, while Solosis, Flabebe, Pikipek, Jangmo-o, Rookidee, and Quaxly will appear on Sunday, December 7th.
