Jennifer English currently enjoys the position of darling of the video game industry. After absolutely crushing it as Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, fans are eagerly awaiting her appearance in Tides of Annihilation. However, English seems to be excited about a completely different part.
The actress has an enviable reputation for only starring in bangers, though she has admitted to being in a few not-so-great titles. However, playing a conflicted cultist and a reality-bending painter is not enough. She will also feature in Warframe developer Digital Extremes' upcoming MMO, Soulframe, which she says is her “dream part.”
Jennifer English's role in Soulframe is her dream part
Speaking to GamesRadar+ at The Golden Joystick Awards, English said she absolutely loved her role as Alora, Empress of Eldveil, in Soulframe. “Oh my god, that's my dream part,” she said. “I play a fairy empress and her morals are in harmony with nature itself. To top it all off, she added: “I have a bit of a Welsh accent and I'm excited.”
While we don't have much information about Alora, English did reveal earlier this month that she'll be courting the character, who speaks poetically in threes. Since Soulframe is an MMO, it will probably be central to the story and maybe even give quests in some way. Given the popularity of English, it is unlikely that Alora will be a secondary or supporting character.
Clair Obscur's Jennifer English is right, Queer Joy is worth watching regardless of price
After winning Best Performance at this year's Golden Joysticks, Jennifer English touched on the importance of queer joy in her life.
Since Baldur's Gate 3, English has become one of the most recognizable voices in the gaming industry. So much so that those playing Expedition 33 couldn't help but feel like it was Shadowheart yelling “Parry it!” whenever Nevron launches a massive attack in the game. Of course, English's performances for the two characters were otherwise very different.
Speaking of dream roles, the Englishwoman recently told TheGamer that if she were given the opportunity to create her dream project, it would be outside of the video game industry, in the form of a queer genre film. “I would definitely do a queer genre film,” she said. “I'm not sure what, but I'd like to work with The Avengers she, them, gay and allies. Something really inclusive and badass and something that hasn't been here before.”
