Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 it won't hit fans and casual gamers as much as previous titles. This is because they are not captivated by the campaign due to several reasons such as stunning scenery.

From old west gunslingers to futuristic robots fighting massive wars, these shooters are priceless.
This list will only consider single-player campaigns in first-person shooters, not multiplayer modes.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare
Born in Ghillie
The fourth main game in Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfarechanged everything for the series and moved the warfare to the modern era instead of WWII. Players had to control several protagonists in different war theaters and quickly learned that their characters were not safe. There are some memorable set pieces in these levels, including one mission everyone remembers involving a ghillie suit. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare it kept players on their toes and helped revolutionize the series and the first-person shooter genre as a whole.
Half-Life 2
Wake up, Gordon
No shooter has more shame than Half-Life 2as fans are still wondering when Valve is going to make a proper sequel. It's not just the game's shooting mechanics that have players clamoring for more; they are also physics-based puzzles, as players can manipulate the environment using various gadgets, such as the gravity gun. There are many linear segments, but many of the outdoor environments are more open, giving players a greater sense of freedom to explore. While it's not as exciting with minute-to-minute action as some other shooters, it's about everything Half-Life 2 is interesting due to the world building of secret governments and alien technology.
Halo: Achieve
One Last Stand
Halo: Achieve
- Released
-
September 14, 2010
Halo: Achieve is just as good a place for anyone new Halo series to begin with. It is a prequel to the franchise, set on the titular Reach, where the super soldiers of the Spartan unit fought against the alien Covenant. This was the pinnacle of the Spartan program, so unlike Master Chief, every unit was equipped with a specialty, giving them more play opportunities during combat.
8 FPS games with better stories than Halo
Move over, Chief. While the Halo series has told its fair share of excellent stories, these other FPS stories beat it.
Players could activate armor upgrades such as super speed or flight. Things were tense until the end, though fans knew how Halo: Achieve will end because it is a tragic story in the deep tradition of the franchise.
Wolfenstein: The New Order
The man in the high castle
By 2014, Wolfenstein the franchise has gone stale and therefore Wolfenstein: The New Order it was so refreshing. It was another shooter with the protagonist, BJ Blazkowicz, in his fight to overthrow the Nazis during WWII. The plot is that after BJ fails, he falls into a coma, allowing the Nazis to win and thus the entire world entered an alternate state where Germany ruled with an iron thumb. It's the weirdest game in the series, thanks to characters with heightened personalities and weird quirks. Best of all, the shooting is gory, so every Nazi kill is satisfying.
Titanfall 2
Mechs “R” Us
Titanfall 2 is a short game, but it's packed with non-stop action that will make any mecha fan explode with joy. Players can fight as a human soldier in some missions and pilot their mecha in others. Both fighters feel incredibly accurate, thanks to developer Respawn Entertainment having the background Call of Duty franchise. The human segments are faster, allowing players to run up walls while shooting enemies, and the mech missions are slower, but players will feel the weight of each extra-large bullet they fire, which is visceral.
Time dividers 2
Time travel shenanigans
Time dividers 2 is a great shooter because it changes things in every level, not only with the environment but with the time periods. Agents in the game must try to stop the anomalies, leading them to everything from an experimental base in Siberia in the 1990s to an Old West setting in the 19th century.
Play these FPS games before Halo 1 Remake
Get in the right space for the Halo remake with these acclaimed first-person shooters.
This constant rotation of settings and characters helps keep players engaged and is a big reason why it is considered the best in the entire series. Shooting may not be as accurate as some other shooters, but there aren't many time-traveling shooters out there. Time dividers 2and the series as a whole unique.
BioShock
Get carried away in ecstasy
BioShock is an atmospheric horror game set under the ocean in a failed utopia called Rapture. After the main character Jack gets into the facility, he will have to search for ammunition, new weapons and other supplies in order to survive the mutated inhabitants. Through radio interactions with “normal” survivors, players will be able to piece together the mystery of what happened to Rapture, all leading up to one grand finale. Shooting is solid, but gaining new powers through Plasmids is even more exciting.
Metroid Prime Remastered
Samus Goes 3D
Not every franchise is good at transitioning to 3D, but thankfully Metroid made over Metroid Prime. Players could shoot enemies and activate puzzles from a first-person perspective, but the perspective switched to third-person whenever they activated Samus's Morph Ball. What worked best on the GameCube was that it was still a game where exploration was more important than action. It wasn't a horror game, but it was creepy because the players were on an isolated planet without much leadership or allies to call upon. It's best experienced now on Switch thanks to the remaster.
7 big FPS games are officially coming in 2026
In addition to Halo: Campaign Evolved, 2026 will bring more great shooters to satisfy FPS players.
