This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
One piece has two primary energy systems – Haki and Devil Fruits. The latter was introduced a long time ago, but Haki only got into the story after the timeskip. There were Haki users, but readers didn't know about their power for a long time.
Since the timeskip, Haki has become increasingly important to the story. Even Kaido was adamant that Haki was the most powerful weapon in the world and anyone who wanted to reach the top had to master it. At first, Oda introduced only three types of Haki, but he kept adding new applications. In the arch of Elbaf, One piece fans have seen yet another type called critical mass Haki.
One Piece: Oda has already revealed the new Devil Fruit straw hat user
The Straw Hat Pirates might be getting a new Devil Fruit user soon, all in one piece. The fans are excited.
What is the critical mass of Haki in one piece?
Critical Mass Haki increases the power of attacks
-
Critical Mass Haki was used by Garp and Roger
-
Haki was able to bypass Xebco's insane defense
In One Piece Chapter 1165, Roger and Garp finally team up to fight the transformed Xebec. They spent much of their stamina trying to breach Xebec's defenses, but the transformation made it nearly impossible for them to do so. They knew that time was running out and if they didn't do their job quickly, Xebec would kill them and then go after whoever was left on the island.
Fortunately, Roger came up with an idea that he believed would allow them to take down Xebco. Roger told Garp that they needed to put all their mass into one final attack. Garp understood what Roger wanted to do, so they both drained all of their stamina, affecting the amount of attacks and causing their punches to be infused with a critical amount of Haki. Using this particular type of Haki, Roger and Garp were able to bypass Xebco's defenses and subdue him.
Oda probably introduced Critical Mass Haki in the flashback, as Luffy and his friends may have to use it against the Holy Knights intent on destroying Elbaf and its population. Luffy and his allies don't know how to use a critical amount of Haki, but Scopper Gaban can teach them. Gaban has already shown that he is able to bypass the regeneration of the holy knights. If he imparts his wisdom to Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Loki, they will be equipped to deal with the Holy Knights. There is a lot on Luffy's shoulders, so he must submit at all costs. If he fails to defeat the Holy Knights, then Elbaf is doomed.
Luffy uses Critical Mass Haki to defeat Ima
Luffy's adventures have led him to defeat many opponents. Many caused him problems, but he was able to defeat them with a combination of indomitable will and powerful abilities. However, none of his enemies are a match for Im, who heads the World Government. Fans have only seen glimpses of Imu's strengths, but most agree that the supreme ruler of the World Government is in a league of their own.
In order for Luffy to beat Ima, he needs to be stronger. His first task was to master Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. The Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit will no doubt prove to be an invaluable weapon against Imu as it is paired with Joyboy. Luffy already knows how to use Gear 5th, but he has to master it to the fullest because he suffers from severe exhaustion afterwards. Additionally, Luffy is unable to maintain Gear 5th for extended periods of time. He needs to resolve these issues before he tries to fight Imu.
The second thing Luffy needs to master is Haki. It has been said several times that Haki is the only reliable counter to Devil Fruits. Without Haki, it is almost impossible to hurt a Devil Fruit user. Luffy has mastered all types of Haki and their advanced versions, but there are some things he doesn't know. That being said, Luffy doesn't know about the critical amount of Haki. Hopefully he can make it in the Elbaf Arch. Even if Luffy doesn't learn a critical amount of Haki, he must learn to bypass the regeneration of the Holy Knights and Gorosei.
