Pokemon Legends: ZAPatch 1.0.3 has been released to fix a bug introduced in Season 2 that prevented some players from getting guaranteed Mega Stone rewards from ranked battles. When Pokemon Legends: ZA when it first came out, it immediately gained online multiplayer support, starting with Season 1 of competitive ranked battles with a corresponding Greninjite reward that unlocks the Mega Greninja in-game. This was obtained after reaching the K rank, which required several hours in ranked battles, but things changed when Season 2 was released on November 5th.
With season 2, Pokemon Legends: ZAThe rated rewards were changed to Greninjite at Rank Y and Delphoxite at Rank S, making these Mega Stones much easier to obtain. However, a bug was inadvertently introduced that prevented some players from obtaining any of these Mega Stones. Greninjite was already unlocked for participants in Season 1, but for those who still had to acquire it in Season 2, it was bugged along with Delphoxite. Fortunately, not all players were affected, but those affected finally have a fix with today's new patch.
Pokemon Legends: ZA players won't have to say goodbye to Mega Greninja after all
After debuting in Season 1 of Pokemon Legends: ZA Online Ranked Battles, it looks like Mega Greninja will be around for a while longer.
ZA's Pokemon Legends: Mega Greninja, Delphox and Chesnaught are finally available for everyone
Pokemon Legends: ZASeason 3 adds Chesnaughtite to the mix of unlockable Mega stones, and both Greninjite and Delphoxite can be obtained again soon. It's unclear what caused the bug to appear in Season 2, and it's unclear how many players were affected by the bug. The patch notes state:
-
“In Ranked Battles, even if you reach the rank needed to get Mega Stones as a reward, you may not be able to receive them. (This happened in Season 2),” meaning that some players did not get Greninjite, Delphoxite, or both after reaching Y-Rank and S-Rank. Since these rewards can only be obtained through Ranked Battles, not getting them meant that Mega Greninja was soft-locked. and Mega Delphox.
Now players can download Ver. 1.0.3 for the game after booting up their Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. The download is fairly quick, usually taking one minute or less. For those hit by the Mega Stone bug, they can easily get Greninjite and/or Delphoxite in Pokemon Legends: ZA now. The procedure is as follows:
-
Start your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. If it's already on, press the home button and go to Pokemon Legends: ZA to start downloading patch 1.0.3. The game can be open and the process will start anyway. However, the game must be restarted for Ver. 1.0.3 to install.
-
Start Pokemon Legends: ZA when the update is fully downloaded and installed.
-
In-game, press X to open the menu. From there, go to Link Play.
-
Click on Rated Battles. This will connect you to the internet and a pop-up screen will appear showing the missing Mega Stones as rewards.
For those who didn't get a chance to get one or more Mega Stones from Ranked Battles, Season 3 rewards are now available. These include:
-
Chesnaughtite – S rank
-
Delphoxite – Rank V
-
Greninjite – Rank Y
There are also end-of-season rewards for PLZA Season 2, including Dream Ball(s) for players who have reached Rank K or higher. These will also be awarded once after clicking on ranked battles after Season 2 ends.
It's worth noting that the shiny Alpha Pokémon hunting glitch in Wild Zone 20 was not fixed by version 1.0.3, and those who are worried that the update may remove this method can safely install the new version of the software. As well as other shiny hunting benefits in Pokemon Legends: ZA were not patched.
With season 3, Pokemon Legends: ZA's Zygarde and Diancie are now available for use in ranked battles. Season 3 will run until Wednesday, December 17th at 8:59 PM ET, which means fans have quite a bit of time to get the missing Mega Stones and/or a new Chesnaughtite.
For those looking for new teams to try out, Pikachu is OP in Pokemon Legends: ZA's ranked battles and can one-shot most of the non-terrestrial-type Pokemon in the game. Ice or Pokemon moves are great at dealing with Zygard, and Steel or Pokemon moves are a fantastic counter to Fairy mons.
Finally, Pokemon Legends: ZAThe Mega Dimension DLC will launch on December 10th and the next and final trailer for it will air on December 2nd. It's unclear what will be revealed, but there will likely be more new Mega Evolutions, like the leaked Absol Y and Lucario Y.
