The Witcher 4, 5 and 6 are still aiming for an incredibly ambitious launch window

The Witcher 4, 5and 6 CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they will remain on track to release within six years. The award-winning developer thus reiterated the aggressive launch target that first appeared years ago shortly after The Witcher 4 and its two sequels have been confirmed to be happening.

The plan dates to October 2022, seven months after CDPR's first teaser for the new one Charmer RPG saga. At the time, the studio announced that it intended to follow up its critically acclaimed trilogy with another trio of games focusing not on Geralt, but on another protagonist, later revealed to be the older Ciri. Two other details were shared: the first part was codenamed Project Polarisand the entire Unreal Engine 5-powered trilogy was slated to be released in just six years—an unusually short timeline for such an ambitious undertaking in modern game development.

During an earnings call at the end of November 2025 following the release of the company's financial report, CDPR Co-CEO Michal Nowakowski was asked to update the status of the ambitious launch timeframe for the new saga. “Our plan still stands [sic] launch the entire trilogy over a six-year period,” the executive said. Although he didn't narrow down the potential release window for the first entry in the trilogy, the fact that The Witcher 4 it entered full production in November 2024, so a late 2027 debut is a real possibility – especially given the recent overhaul of CDPR's development pipeline to emphasize longer pre-production phases and shorter production cycles. This shift, combined with the industry's current average AAA development timeline of approximately five years, further supports the feasibility of this goal.

The Witcher 4 and 5 are planned to get about 3 years of active development each

Nowakowski acknowledged that the current timeline will require CDPR to shift into a higher gear once The Witcher 4 will hit the market. “Yes, that would mean we would plan for a shorter development time between TW4 and TW5, between TW5 and TW6 and so on,” one CEO said. According to the studio's earlier statements, its plan to speed up the development of the sequel depends on the full introduction of the Unreal Engine 5 production pipeline with The Witcher 4which allows for faster iteration. This approach would primarily involve process and asset reuse. Additional efficiencies such as (partial) map reuse remain possible, but have not been confirmed or suggested in any way.

Our plan is still there [sic] run the entire trilogy over a six-year period, so yes, that would mean we would plan for a shorter development time between TW4 and TW5, between TW5 and TW6, and so on.

CDPR's latest earnings report also provided updates Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, revealing that the game will not launch until 2028 at the earliest. The Witcher 4 and Witcher 5. This estimated timing aligns with the potential release window of the codenamed Witcher multiplayer spin-off Project Siriuswhich was rebooted in early 2023 at CDPR's second Boston studio, The Molasses Flood. The studio was fully absorbed by its parent company in April 2025 and no longer operates as a separate legal entity, although work on Project Sirius continues.

Due to the current state of CDPR and the lack of dedicated Hadar It seems unlikely that the project will be released before the 1930s unless the company significantly expands its development capacity, which would most likely mean the opening or acquisition of additional studios.
