Five titles to go Xbox Game Pass later today, including November 30 departures Octopath Traveler 1 and 2. Square Enix's critically acclaimed JRPGs are leaving Microsoft's content catalog at a time when many fans might have been inclined to play them anyway, so the timing of their imminent departure from Xbox Game Pass is particularly uncomfortable for some.
Since losing 13 titles in June 2025, Microsoft's subscription service has limited its monthly removals to single digits. That series is now set to come to an end, with five titles leaving Xbox Game Pass on November 15th and another group of the same size set to release later today.

The Barbie Project Friendship is the only title in this departing group to be on the service for less than a year, having joined Xbox Game Pass alongside the PC version on June 11 Two crowns of the kingdom. On the contrary, SteamWorld build is leaving just before its second anniversary in Microsoft's content catalog Lords of the Fallen and both Octopath Traveler each of the titles spent roughly 18 months in the XGP library.
Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 are leaving Xbox Game Pass at a really inopportune time
Although it has been available to Xbox Game Pass members for some time, Octopath Traveler the series departs at a time of renewed interest in it. This is primarily due to Octopath Traveler 0 be on the horizon. First announced during the July 2025 Nintendo Direct, the third entry in the main series is scheduled to launch on PC and consoles on December 4. While not a single-day Xbox Game Pass release, the summer announcement of its late fall debut may have prompted some JRPG fans to revisit the first two installments or play them for the first time. Given the considerable length of both games, it's likely that not all subscribers who started them in recent months have had time to finish them, so the timing of their removal may be inconvenient. Even without that context, their departure is a significant loss for the Xbox Game Pass JRPG catalog.
November 2025 was very positive for the Xbox Game Pass library
While November 2025 marks the first time since June that Xbox Game Pass has lost double-digit titles in a single month, it was still a significant net positive for Microsoft's subscription service. The library has grown by 20 titles in the last 30 days, adding double what it lost, including today's departures.
Looking ahead, Xbox Game Pass already has five titles confirmed for December 2025. These include Lost Records: Bloom and Rageas well as the first four editions: Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Routine, A game about digging a holeand Guardian of the Dome. The latter two are already available on other platforms, but are still treated as Game Pass titles since their upcoming Xbox versions are brand new.
