Both Alpha Omega and Nuketown Zombies are twists on the legendary Nuketown multiplayer map. Where Nuketown Zombies is smaller, Alpha Omega is a much more expanded version. Alpha Omega was first introduced as DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in 2019 and was the penultimate map of the ongoing Aether storyline. As always, it contained a massive easter egg called the Electromagnetic Awakening Party and featured one of the best boss fights in the game Call of Duty: Zombies in Avogadro. But to this day, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 remains Alpha Omega's only appearance in the series. Nuketown Zombies have arrived Black Ops 2and like Alpha Omega has yet to reappear.

According to people Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope on X, that could all change. That's what the leaker claims Black Ops 7Post-launch plans include a complete remake of Alpha Omega, which will be released as a wheel-based map. This would give Treyarch the opportunity to change the original and adapt it more Black Ops 7mechanics. That's not all. TheGhostOfHope also says that Nuketown Zombies is returning for the first time in years, with plans to be a survival map. Unfortunately, the leaker offers no information on when these iconic maps will return, other than that they are included in the post-launch content.

The big thing to note is that TheGhostOfHope differentiates between a remake and a remaster for these Call of Duty: Zombies maps. Since Alpha Omega is a larger map, Treyarch must have felt they had more opportunities to improve upon the original and opted for a complete remake instead. But with Nuketown Zombies, it's not exactly a map that needs to change that much. Nor could he, given his much smaller scale. It will be interesting to see if Nuketown Zombies uses the visual style of the latest version of Nuketown featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7or whether it reverts to the original version.

In terms of potential additions, Nuketown Zombies, which was released over a decade ago, is now ripe for improvement. The 2012 version of the map featured only the original four Perk-a-Cola machines, a system that has since been massively expanded. There's also the potential for a new easter egg – the original Nuketown Zombies didn't feature anything typical Call of Duty: Zombies Easter eggs as players know them today. However, remember that this is only speculation as the return of the maps is still just a rumor at this point. It's worth waiting to see if Treyarch reveals these maps and returns to them Call of Duty: Zombies over the next few months.
