Marvel Cosmic Invasion is now available at Xbox Game Pass on several levels. The all-day co-op fighting game marks the first December 2025 addition to Microsoft's subscription service, as well as the 210th edition of Xbox Game Pass since the turn of the year.
Developed by Montreal-based Tribute Games, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a superhero with 2D pixel graphics and a diverse roster of 15 playable characters, including Spider-Man, Captain America, She-Hulk, Venom, Wolverine, Storm and Rocket Raccoon. In addition to the Marvel IP, the game aims to differentiate itself from the genre competition with its so-called Cosmic Swap tag-team system, which allows players to select a pair of superheroes for each level and switch between them at will, creating opportunities for unique combos.
5 forgotten horror games that deserve to be rediscovered on Game Pass
For Game Pass subscribers, these horror games never got the love they deserved, but now they can (and should) be played on the Xbox streaming platform.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is now available in 2 tiers of Xbox Game Pass
Just over eight months after the March 2025 announcement, Marvel Cosmic Invasion was released for PC, consoles, and Xbox Game Pass on December 1. Beat 'em up Tribute Games can be played through the Ultimate tier of the Xbox subscription service, as well as PC Game Pass. Marvel Cosmic Invasion is the 69th Day One title to join Xbox Game Pass in 2025, and the first to debut in December. However, it was officially unveiled as part of November's Wave 2 lineup, while the first wave of December's additions should be revealed later this week — most likely on December 2, based on Microsoft's usual announcement schedule.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion may be coming to Xbox Game Pass Premium in 2026
Since Microsoft released Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass exclusives on the first day in September 2024, the middle tier of the service has typically received such titles with a delay of 6 to 12 months. As part of the October 1 rebranding of Xbox Game Pass Standard to Premium, Microsoft has committed to a maximum 12-month delay for games published on Xbox. However, because Marvel Cosmic Invasion has another publisher, the timing of its potential XGP Premium launch remains uncertain. If the game is planned to stay on the service for at least one year, it could reach the $14.99 per month level as early as mid-2026.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is another win for the Xbox Game Pass co-op catalog
Meantime, Marvel Cosmic Invasion bolsters the ever-growing selection of impressive co-op titles on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. While playable solo, it also supports couch and online co-op for up to four players with seamless drop-in and drop-out functionality. Early previews suggest co-op multiplayer is one of the game's key selling points – along with its 80s and 90s nostalgia appeal – with the mode said to fully embrace the chaotic energy of classic beat 'em ups.

December 2nd is another key date for Xbox Game Pass members as it marks the arrival Lost Records: Bloom & Rage and will likely coincide with the official announcement of (the entire) first wave of service releases in December. The upcoming lineup is already known to feature Routinewhich begins on December 4, as well as Guardian of the Dome and A game about digging a holeboth are due to arrive five days later. If 2024 is any indication, Microsoft could consolidate that month's Xbox Game Pass lineup into a single lineup announcement, then return to the typical two-part monthly reveal schedule in January 2026.
