Star Wars is reportedly getting a big game announcement soon

It's that time of year again. The Game Awards are upon us, and everyone's trying to guess what big, exciting announcements are going to be there, despite the show's constant attempts to pretend it actually cares about its own awards. This year has heated up a bit more with near-constant rumors of Half-Life 3 and a large statue in the desert, and it seems almost anything can pop up as an unexpected surprise this year.

However, there is one franchise that many people didn't consider as a potential candidate – Star Wars. We know that there are a lot of Star Wars games in development right now, all of which are in very different stages of development, and one fairly reliable insider now suggests that a “big” Star Wars game announcement is coming very soon.

This little joke comes from prominent Twitter insider Kurakasis, who goes on to say that this Star Wars announcement he's teasing has nothing to do with either Star Wars: Zero Company or Star Wars Eclipse. They're two relatively small Star Wars games in the big picture, so the real question is what exactly might be announced.

With two games already ruled out, we're left with a few possible suspects. The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake has been MIA for a while now, since it was first announced as late as 2021, and there have been various reports of troubled development. However, it appears to still be in development and would make a pretty massive announcement for The Game Awards.

Second, we know that Star Wars: Zero Company isn't the only Star Wars game Respawn is currently working on. Earlier this year, Respawn said it was working on “the next chapter in the Star Wars Jedi franchise,” and even though it's been just over two years since Survivor , we might get an official trailer as direct confirmation that the game is coming.

Finally, we have Skydance's big Star Wars title currently in development, led by Uncharted director and writer Amy Hennig. That's probably the title we know the least about right now, though with Skydance currently hard at work on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, it seems unlikely they'll be showing off another big project anytime soon.

Whatever this big Star Wars announcement will be, it seems pretty likely that it will be at The Game Awards next week, given that the show is just over a week away. Who knows, maybe that big statue in the desert everyone's been raving about is Star Wars-related – that's as good a guess as anyone's at this point.
