As 2025 draws to a close, survival horror fans are closer to finally experiencing the next big event Resident Evil title, a whole new look at Resident Evil Requiem the gameplay teased a previously unknown location that immediately evokes memories of traversing old Spencer Manion. Resident Evil Requiem has been touted as a “return to form,” and the latest demo of the fighting game has already sparked celebratory reactions among longtime fans and early-birds alike.
It has already been confirmed that the setting Resident Evil Requiem once again transports the player to the infamous Raccoon City after its bombing. While footage of the destroyed RPD building has been shown over and over again, the story is said to follow new protagonist Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Resident Evil OutbreakAlyssa Ashcroft, who investigates a series of mysterious deaths at the Wrenwood Hotel – the same place where Alyssa was murdered. However, it would stand to reason that Grace's investigation may lead her beyond the hotel and further into the heart of Raccoon City, with the latest glimpse of the new location fueling speculation among fans of the franchise.

The new Resident Evil Requiem game shows off a new Spencer Mansion-like location
A short clip of the fight between Grace and the zombies Resident Evil Requiem was featured during a special program broadcast on Japanese television. A short trailer shows Grace firing a pistol at a zombie coming down the stairs before being charged by an enemy. Players immediately compared the scene to moments in the original Resident Evil game, specifically while fighting the undead in the ornate Spencer Mansion, albeit with a modern over-the-shoulder camera angle. The carved wooden staircase railings and sconces certainly share similar architecture and design to the Spencer Mansion, as well as the Raccoon City Police Department. While nothing directly confirms the play's location, a wall of what appear to be room keys may indicate that the scene is actually set in the staff quarters of the Wrenwood Hotel.
One key piece of gameplay information that has yet to be fully confirmed is whether or not Leon S. Kennedy will be involved Resident Evil Requiem. Game producer Masato Kumazawa urged players to be more cautious about believing internet rumors, although he did not directly say that Leon would not appear. Some of the talk has claimed that game files have shown Leon to be a playable character alongside Grace Ashcroft, although no official statement has yet been made to fully confirm or deny Kennedy's potential appearance in Requiem.
With The Game Awards 2025 starting on December 11, many expect Resident Evil Requiem to appear in some capacity. Whether Capcom plans to make a huge splash at The Game Awards by confirming Leon's return remains to be seen, but would it's the perfect time for the company to release a major reveal before the game launches on February 27, 2026. Another possible TGA announcement by Capcom would be the reveal of the next Resident Evil remake. Previous rumors teased full RE1 remake, though those have since been revealed, and the latest information from alleged insiders now points to a remake Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica.
Modern success Resident Evil franchise following the lull RE6 warmly welcomed by horror fans. Both recent remakes and newer releases have been critically and commercially praised, so many had high expectations. Resident Evil Requiem. Whether the game ends up living up to those expectations remains to be seen, but TGA's big announcement could be just that Resident Evil Requiem needs to keep the audience pumped ahead of its February release on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S.
