It was a very long wait, but Crystal Dynamics' next big Tomb Raider game has finally been properly revealed at The Game Awards 2025.

While Tomb Raider fans have had plenty to do in recent years, thanks to two great remasters of six classic Lara Croft games, it hasn't been enough. We haven't had a proper major release in the series since Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which was only in 2018. That's right, it's been almost a decade.

What's even stranger about Tomb Raider's disappearance this console generation is that we know a new game is in the works and has been in the works for some time. That long wait was finally confirmed to be coming to an end earlier this week when it was announced that the future of Tomb Raider would be revealed at The Game Awards.

The next Tomb Raider has finally been revealed, Catalyst

Lara Croft is back baby

Without a doubt, one (or rather two) of the biggest announcements during The Game Awards involved the long-awaited next Tomb Raider game. It's called Tomb Raider: Catalyst and it's coming in 2027, which was actually leaked just a few hours before the show.

However, as leaked ahead of the show, that wasn't the only Tomb Raider announcement. The first game is also getting a full-on remake called Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, which tries to bring the different eras of Lara Croft together. Unlike Catalyst, we got a full look at the gameplay of Legacy of Atlantis, and so far it looks great.

Although Crystal Dynamics is taking its time announcing a new Tomb Raider game, we've at least had some consistent news about it over the years. In fact, his appearance at The Game Awards doesn't come off as too a big surprise given the recent job listings suggested it was nearing the end of its development cycle.
