There are many items in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Inside the Monolith map and this guide will help players find them all.

Updated on December 14, 2025, by Nahda Nabiilah: Verso's Drafts not only come with new gear to collect, but also new cosmetics to combine. So it's no surprise when players end up hunting for clothing that can lead them all the way to the Sunless Cliffs. While the cut offered from Sunless Cliffs isn't the best, it has huge meme potential. Plus, players get a fun little challenge with a mini-boss.

Where to find Sunless Cliffs in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Sunless Cliffs is one of the more elusive optional locations Clair Obscur: Expedition 33as it is tucked into a crevice at the top of a cliff. You can find his colorful portal to the southeast of Sirene Island, as well as the Gestral Beach location to the east of it.

To get to the Sunless Cliffs portal, you'll need to access Esquie's ability to fly, which requires some progress in the main story (specifically at the end of Act 2). This is because the portal itself is set on a raised cliff ledge surrounded by water on both sides, so swimming won't help this time.

It's just as well, because the content in Sunless Cliffs presents a significant challenge that's best suited to actual progression in the endgame, so you don't have to worry about diving in too quickly.

How to complete Sunless Cliffs in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Once inside, you'll find that Sunless Cliffs is a relatively small location. There isn't much to find or see from the entrance aside from an ominous eclipse over the monolith ahead. Run forward until the path turns left and right. The left route leads to a short dead end with nothing, so don't bother. Instead, head right and into the tunnel.

On the other side of the tunnel, you'll find a rather disturbing room with a huge portal structure and an Expedition Flag nearby. This is the main feature of Sunless Cliffs and you'll want to be thoroughly prepared with polished builds for the difficult challenge that lies on the other side. Attempting this challenge is not recommended until your party is at least level 80, if not max levelwith upgraded weapons and Pictos that heartily boost your characters' stats.

This is mainly because you will find out when you interact with the portal only one party member is allowed to enter. In other words, you will only have one character to use in the fight in front of you, similar to the Gestral Merchants fights.

Mime Sunless Cliffs

The challenge hidden in the portal turns out to be one of many different Mimov boss encounters. However, this is considered the hardest in the entire game, as if her menacing red eyes weren't enough to tell.

If you're low level and/or underequipped, this mime can easily one-hit KO your one party member. This makes dodging such punishing damage a priority, and your attacks must be punishing enough in return to build up the “Break” gauge as quickly as possible.

Once you manage to defeat this mime, a fight will reward you The Pictos (first time only) together with sa 'bald' hairstyle for the character you used in that fight.

You have to beat the pantomime with another person to get the bald hairstyle for the corresponding character. So in total you have to fight the Sunless Cliffs mime at least five times to get everyone's hairstyle. If you lose, you will be able to challenge the pantomime again, but the character cannot fight the enemy again once they win. After all five characters defeat the pantomime, the portal disappearsmarking the end of the Sunless Cliffs mime.

Like all other mimes, this one will start the fight by building a “wall” in front of it, greatly strengthening its defenses. He then uses the same two known attacks:

Call

Mime attacks on sunless cliffs

The pantomime performs a hand-to-hand combination

3 hits. Mime jumps and immediately strikes with one hand, then the other. The Mime will then throw its head back after a short delay before hitting you in the head.

Mime performs a strange combination

4 hits. Mime strikes with a hammer. The first two hits are done quickly, while the third and fourth hits have a very short delay.

To remove the protection of the “walls” you must ram the enemy inside Expedition 33. This allows the fighter to deal normal damage. Since the pantomime will also be stunned, it's a good idea to use your strongest attacks during this vulnerable time.

Since the battle is a one-on-one fight, players should build their characters with the Lumina solo buff. In addition, it is also important to bring skills or Lumina that can Break the Mime.

Here are some basic Luminas you can take for this fight:
