Kinetic Games recently teased the addition of three brand new ghosts to the Phasmophobiabut without any time references, it was unclear whether it will come with the Winter's Jest update or later this year/into 2026. Now, with the Winter's Jest update live, we can confirm that three brand new ghosts have been added Phasmophobia: Obambo, Gallu and Dayan.
Of course, these are not the only reasons to play Phasmophobia now. The Winter's Jest update adds a Krampus Ghost model, adds a temporary holiday aesthetic (on rotation) to some maps, and kicks off a few community objectives. That and with that PhasmophobiaHorror 2.0/Switch 2 is set to release in 2026, and there's plenty of new content on the horizon.
However, the new ghosts are a pretty big deal. Players will have to learn the behavior of these new spirits Phasmophobiaall while differentiating them from others. And as usual, each of these ghosts in the game is based on superstitions and mythological creatures from the real world. Obambo is a supernatural being from Central African mythology, where he is depicted as a powerful spirit that can be harmful or beneficial. Gallu is described in Phasmo as “another demon”, this demon being from ancient Mesopotamian mythology. And finally, there is Dayan, a ghostly witch from Indian/Pakistani folklore. It is the vengeful spirit of a woman who died a traumatic death (typically childbirth or murder).

Strength: While Obambo is aggressive, he starts hunting faster.
Weakness: While calm, Obambo is slower to start hunting and easier to track.

Strength: Dayan gains the power to protect herself if people “dance” too close to her.
Weakness: Dayan loses power if nearby people are standing still.

Strength: Using protective gear pushes the spirit into a rage and weakens the equipment's effects.

All in all, adding brand new spirits to Phasmophobia is basically a Christmas present from the developers at Kinetic Games. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the Horror 2.0 update, but the demand for new ghosts is constant among the fandom. I, for one, can't wait to hunt those new ghosts. Brand new maps like Nell's Diner, brand new ghosts like these three, and constant support and updates from Kinetic are why Phasma remains the best ghost hunting game on the market. And with more planned for 2026, it's hard to say anything close to being dethroned.
