Borderlands 4 has launched its new holiday Season's Lootings event, which features some pretty absurd drops for legendary loot until January 8th, 2026. Players can now join and take advantage of the opportunity to earn Borderlands 4Legendary items much faster than before. Gearbox also activated three Big Encore Bosses at the same time, giving the development team time to rest during the holidays.
Since launch Borderlands 4Gearbox tried to keep up with the live service elements of the game, with frequent in-game events to keep players coming back to Kairos. Some would say it's had a mixed effect so far – the game has suffered from declining player numbers due to its strong launch, leading some to question whether the developer took the right approach. Borderlands 4. Especially, BL4The Halloween event was particularly criticized, with players feeling that Gearbox presented a boring grind for rewards that ultimately weren't very valuable. Hopefully the new holiday event will send it the other way and take a lot of the drudgery out of one area Borderlands 4.

The Borderlands 4 Season Lootings event increases the legendary drop rate by up to 5x
In an announcement on Steam, Gearbox confirmed that the news Borderlands 4 a holiday event called Season's Lootings is now available in-game until January 8, 2026. While Season's Lootings is active, players will be 5x more likely to receive Borderlands 4 Legendary drop, excluding Big Encore Bosses and Bloomreaper. This means that now is the perfect time for any players still interested in a specific legendary item to finish their perfect build, jump into the game and start farming. It could also be good for players who know what their next character will be and farm Legendary ahead of time to avoid looting outside the Season's Lootings window. Although “up to 5x more likely” seems like a pretty absurd legendary drop rate, Gearbox insists that they “will still be rare enough to feel special, in line with our overall design intent.”
To close out the year in terms of minor updates, Gearbox also added the triple threat of Big Encore Bosses v Borderlands 4 take players up to January 8th with three active real bosses at once. This is to enable Borderlands 4 team to take a well-deserved break for the holiday season, with the weekly boss rotation resuming as usual from January 8. This also applies to the usual Thursday change to weekly activities. Gearbox says that from now on, weekly activities won't be shut down until the team returns in the new year. Some time off is certainly fair, especially with all the upcoming hard work for the scheduled Borderlands 4 content in 2026. Same as above changes, new Borderlands 4 the minor update has one more change, fixing an exploit where Ultimate Vault Hunter mode rewards could be obtained in Bloomreaper fights without UVHM.
2026 is set to be a big year Borderlands 4. While the number of players may be down, it doesn't tell the whole story. Many players have already finished their first playthrough of the game and are looking for a great reason to come back. Small events are great for existing players, but big content drops are really what bring players back to the team. Gearbox is coming out next year Borderlands 4Next to that is the first new Vault Hunter, C4SH Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This is planned as the first Story Pack Borderlands 4which should help revive interest in Gearbox's latest looter-shooter.
