During the timeskip, Boruto Uzumaki trained with Sasuke Uchiha and reached a very high level of strength. His overall strength advanced even further as he trained with Kashin Koji and gained more abilities from different versions of him in different timelines.
Still, Boruto couldn't defeat the likes of Jura. But now awakened the power of Momoshiki Otsutsuki. By making a deadly deal with Momoshiki, Boruto brought forth his true power. Boruto Uzumaki basically offered his body to Momoshiki to control in exchange for getting rid of Jura by using his powers.
While initially fans did not know if Momoshiki accepted the proposal, it was made clear in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 29 that a deal was made between the two. After this event Boruto now freely uses Momoshiki's power.
This power is immense. It should definitely surpass his. But the disadvantages are too great. You know, the fact that it drains our life is key. With Boruto free to use Momoshiki Otsutsuki's power, he is now the strongest ninja aliveand surpassed even the likes of Naruto Uzumaki. Boruto gaining access to Momoshiki's full power gave him the ability to absorb any form of chakra. It also gave him access to the Byakugan, as seen in Chapter 29 of the manga. With his Byakugan and his Karma powers, Boruto is now a monster.
It should also be noted that Boruto is currently only using the first stage of his Karma. In the second stage, when Boruto grows back his horn, he reaches a new level of strength unmatched even by the likes of Mamushi. It's only a matter of time before fans discover Boruto's true power.
