Rhythm doctora new co-op game for two players, was released on Xboxgiving rhythm fans something new to try. While Rhythm doctor is a console exclusive for Xbox, it was previously released on Steam where it has already earned widespread praise.
Even though 2025 is coming to an end, December remains a busy time for Xbox. New games were added to Xbox Game Pass at the beginning of the month, while others have since left the service, such as Mortal Kombat 11 and Still Wakes the Deep. In addition to the subscription service, new games have been added to the Xbox Store for purchase. Among the releases is Rhythm doctora new rhythm game that could engage co-op players.
First announced in 2020, Xbox Game Pass Game Day 1 will not arrive until 2028
After announcing its game in 2020, Studio Wildcard gives fans an update on the upcoming title and confirms the wait for its release.
Rhythm Doctor is a new 2-player co-op game on Xbox and PC
Available as an Xbox console exclusive, Rhythm doctor arrived on the Xbox Store on December 18th. The title, which is also optimized for handhelds, comes in at a relatively cheap $19.99, potentially making it more appealing to fans of rhythm games. further Rhythm doctor is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning players only need to purchase the game once to play it on their Xbox-enabled devices. It's worth noting that the game has been playable on Steam through early access since 2021. Since then, the game has earned “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on the platform, with 98% of them being positive.
As the name suggests, Rhythm doctor imposes time on players as they attempt to cure diseases. Specifically, players must treat patients by “defibrillating in time with their heartbeat.” Interestingly, the game features an incredibly simple control scheme that only requires one button press to keep the beat. However, this simplicity earned praise from many reviewers who also singled out the songs for their strong emotional connection to the story.
in addition Rhythm doctor features two-player local co-op that allows a friend to drop in and out during the story. Unfortunately, developer 7th Beat Games noted on the game's Steam page that online multiplayer is currently not working properly due to latency issues. However, those with a spare controller will probably have a lot of fun playing the game with a friend, based on user reviews so far. The game also offers a single player option for those who want to play the levels solo.
Some of the game's other features include over 20 “handcrafted” levels, each with a unique story. Interestingly, the developer notes that each of the game's levels “introduces a different concept of rhythm theory in an accessible way,” suggesting that this could help players become more musically savvy.
Rhythm doctor joins a number of other rhythm games available on Xbox platforms. A quick scan of the Xbox Store will turn up other titles in the genre, but it's hard to find options with as much fanfare as 7th Beat Games' latest project. Unfortunately, it is not clear whether Rhythm doctor it will also come to other consoles in the future, such as PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Due to its popularity, it is possible that the developer could bring the game to other platforms. However, fans will have to wait.
While Rhythm doctor coming to Xbox consoles is big news for fans of the genre, there is a lot to look forward to regarding the brand. Recently, Xbox announced that its next Developer Direct will be coming in January 2026. Microsoft Studios head Matt Booty confirmed the news and revealed that a game from Playground Games will be featured during the event. Time will tell if a new rhythm game will be announced. In the meantime though Rhythm doctor looks like it could entertain fans of the genre for a long time to come.
