PS5 players can use the new code to get some free PSN avatars based on Ghost of Yotei. With eight avatars to choose from, this event allows fans of Sucker Punch Productions' latest game to express their PS5 fandom.
It was among the biggest releases of the year for the PS5 Ghost of Yotei. As the spiritual successor of the people Ghost of Tsushimathe game had high expectations to live up to. Set roughly 300 years after the previous game, the game puts players in control of Atsu as she takes on the Yotei Six, a band of outlaws who were responsible for her family's death. While the game faced some controversy leading up to its release, it received positive reviews and has sold millions since its launch on October 2nd. The game is currently exclusive to PS5 and fans can take advantage of a free-to-play promotion on the console.

To end the year, Sucker Punch revealed a new batch of PSN codes that allow players to get eight avatars based on Ghost of Yotei. Players living in America can use the code 8GGE-5H6P-QMTC to claim free items. There are also codes for residents of Europe/Australia, Asia, Korea and Japan. As expected, the avatars are based on some of the game's characters, along with a bird and a wolf. To redeem items, players must go to the PlayStation Store and enter the code for their region.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first group of avatars based on the game to be released. Those who pre-ordered any of the three versions Ghost of Yotei received seven PSN avatars. Those previous avatars included Atsu and the Yotei Six, which explained her absence in the latest batch. However, these avatars required fans to pre-order the game, meaning some players missed out on the game. Fortunately, the latest ones are free to pick up for all PS5 users.
These Ghost of Yotei avatars joins the list of avatars that have been released for PS5 users. While some of these are immediately accessible by going to the Profile page on the console, others require users to redeem codes similar to those for Ghost of Yotei. For example, Sony gave away several anniversary-themed avatars in August to celebrate 15 years of PS Plus. These avatars included those that came after that one Cyberpunk 2077, God of War Ragnarok, Twisted Metal, Hogwarts heritageand Diablo 4. Based on the company's track record so far, even more avatars will be released in the coming months to help players customize their profiles.
While players can take advantage of this promotion for free PSN avatars, PlayStation has also recently added nine new games to its extra and premium PS Plus tiers. Despite Ghost of Yotei not available on the subscription service, a wide variety of other games have joined this month, such as Planet Coaster 2, Wo Long: Fallen Dynastyand Assassin's Creed Mirage. In addition, the Essential tier added games like Killing Floor 3 and Neon white for December, giving players more options for holiday gaming.
In addition to new games for PS Plus, the PlayStation Store usually goes on sale at the end of the year. While Ghost of Yotei may be too new for a potential discount, Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima may be marked in the digital store. Additionally, it's worth noting that the 2020 Director's Cut of the title is currently on Steam with a 40% discount for those looking to play on PC. This offer comes via Steam's annual Winter Sale, which runs until January 5th.
