First ARC Raiders The expedition has finally begun and players find that their unlocked workshops have disappeared. In many live service games —Escape from Tarkov, Once Humanor ARC Raiders, for example —regular wipes are a matter of course. They reset all players to level one, remove most of their items, and basically start all over again. Different games do this a little differently, but ultimately it's a balancing mechanism that ensures everyone always has something to do. Otherwise, more advanced players would unlock everything, explore everything, and then sit back and twiddle their thumbs or wander off to another game.
One of the biggest downsides to regular wipes is that they tend to punish casual players who may not have time to make much progress before the rug is pulled out from under them. Resetting over and over again can be frustrating when only the beginning of the game is displayed several times. ARC Raiders decided to mix things up by introducing Expeditions, a regular sweep that players can sign up for. In other words, those who don't feel ready to reset don't have to. In order for raiders to participate, developers Embark Studios added incentives such as permanently increased Stash space, extra skill points and cosmetics, as well as temporary bonuses for newly recalled players. In addition, the developer stated that some unlocked items, such as Workshop Stations, will be retained after expedition.
ARC Raiders: Wipe Explained (Expedition Guide)
Every 60 days, ARC Raiders undergo a massive server wipe, and here's how to save your progress for the next Raider using Expedic.
ARC Raiders player workshop stations have disappeared
December 22 first ARC Raiders The expedition finally took off after a short delay. It's supposed to be an exciting time for raiders, but many are instead angered to find that their Workshop Stations, which they thought would remain available, have to be rebuilt and leveled. After the first login after shipping, only the initial Workbench is available. In the days leading up to the first expedition, Embark edited the list that appeared in the game of what would be kept and what would be reset for participants. “Unlocked Workshop Stations” no longer appear in the “This Will Be Keep” list like before.
Many players point out that “Workshop” was always on the “This Will Be Reset” list and attribute the current conundrum to simple miscommunication. Be that as it may, ARC Raiders Players who sign up for an Expedition find that none of their crafting stations, other than the initial Workbench, are unlocked after signing in. All must be rebuilt and re-levelled. At least “Unlocked Workshop Stations” actually used to be on the “Kept” list and were later removed, and because of this list, many players expected their workshop stations to remain unlocked and immediately available for use after expedition.
It's important to note that all the way back in October, when Embark detailed the Expedition project, the developer listed the Workshop as part of what would be lost. “Players will lose everything related to their character's progress. Levels, skills, items/inventory, workshop, crafting abilities, etc.” This was reiterated in subsequent blog posts, with the most recent one on December 12th clarifying that “potential workshop upgrades will be available once you reset”, suggesting that their levels would at least not survive the wipe. However, that didn't work for some ARC Raiders players were given the impression that workshop stations would have to be completely unlocked again.
Regardless of why “Unlocked Workshop Stations” was removed from the list of items to be preserved with little fanfare, regardless of whether it was a simple misunderstanding, many players are upset when they find themselves having to unlock their workstations again. For many raiders, the ability to keep them was part of what helped them decide that participating in an expedition might not be such a big loss. And the modernization of work tables in ARC Raiders it requires some items like the infamous Rusted Gear which are difficult and time consuming to find.
There is always a hiccup in a new game when an untested mechanic is first introduced. This debut ARC Raiders The Expedition seems to have been implemented with minimal issues, with the only player complaint that has come up so far being potential misunderstandings regarding workshop stations. This means that with or without unlocked workbenches, some players are still unsure whether they are participating ARC Raiders The expedition is even worth it considering the number of lost items as well as the extreme cost of individual parts to build the expedition caravan and the 5 million coins needed to unlock all five available skill points.
