Nintendo fans can look forward to the release of Call of Duty Switch soon

The Call of Duty franchise is one of the most popular military first-person shooters, and according to insiders, it may finally be coming to Switch and Switch 2. In 2023, Nintendo and Microsoft signed an agreement that would include Call of Duty on the Switch, but that deal has yet to materialize as two years have passed without any of the franchise's entries being available on the console. Call of Duty could finally be coming to the Switch next year

According to journalist Jez Corden via Twitter, the Switch is the first Call of Duty the game is “almost done” and could arrive in the next few months. That's an incredibly vague timeline, of course, but if Corden's predictions are accurate, it would finally mark the end of years of waiting. While Corden has plenty of experience reporting on rumors and leaks, such as correctly predicting Doom: The Dark Ages If this was the first launch of the PS5, it's still important to keep in mind that any discussion of the Switch Call of Duty the port should be met with skepticism until officially confirmed by Nintendo or Activision. Although Corden claimed that the Switch will get its first Call of Duty the game soon also tempered fan expectations, stressing that while it's almost done, the game isn't “close” but still insisted on a 2026 release date.

While he expressed his belief that Call of Duty coming to Switch sometime in 2026, he didn't give an estimated timeline. He also refrained from saying whether it was imminent Call of Duty the game would be an entirely new offering for the Switch or a port for an existing entry. While a new entry would be a big surprise, it's more likely that they like the recent releases Black Ops 6 or Black Ops 7 the games will come to the players. With the Switch 2 being more powerful than its predecessor, it will be interesting to see if the mystery Call of Duty the game will actually launch for both consoles or just the more powerful one. It would make sense given the file size alone Call of Duty games, but it would also likely be controversial as there are still Switch players who have yet to upgrade to the new iteration of the console.

Last Call of Duty game to be ported to a Nintendo console Call of Duty: Ghosts back in 2013.

Right now, there's no way to know for sure when Call of Duty is coming to Switch, but the next few months will hopefully lift the veil on the game's development. If the Switch finally gets a military shooter, it will also be interesting to see if there is a future Call of Duty games are able to launch day one for Nintendo consoles instead of having to wait for ports. Until Nintendo or Activision make an official statement, Jez Corden's words should be taken with a grain of salt, but it's a compelling possibility.
