Although Final Fantasy 14 released a hotfix update on Christmas Day to fix some bugs and fix some issues, players were still experiencing disconnections from the game's North American servers. However some Final Fantasy 14 players have since discovered several workarounds to keep players connected while the issues persist.
Final Fantasy 14The Christmas hotfix update came more than a week after Patch 7.4, Into the Mist, went live globally. Patch 7.4 saw the story Final Fantasy 14 a move towards the game's upcoming 8.0 expansion and included the final chapter in the fan-favorite Arcadion raid series. Update 7.4 also made some job balance changes, with Gunbreaker getting a minor overhaul. Since the changes in 7.4, Gunbreaker's Burst window now rotates every one minute, with Bloodfest and Gnashing Fang getting some key changes. Red Mage also got an update to Manafication, and the ranged physical DPS role brought a few buffs to their core abilities to keep up with other damage-dealing tasks.
Final Fantasy 14 fans fear a favorite character may have been recast
One of the most popular characters in Final Fantasy 14 sounds a little different in Patch 7.4, and fans are worried that she may have been recast.
Final Fantasy 14 fixes some issues, though server issues persist
At 11:00 PM Eastern on Christmas Day, Final Fantasy 14The user's servers have been temporarily taken offline to implement some hotfixes. Once the servers came back online around 3:00 a.m. EST on Christmas morning, Final Fantasy 14 players had a small update to download to their game clients. Since the Christmas update, Final Fantasy 14The “MissingNo” bug that saw a nameless tier 1 stag wandering around the Coerthas Western Highlands has been fixed, meaning the stag that captivated the player has been returned to its rightful place. Final Fantasy 14The new patch also addressed some glamor issues for the Summoner and Scholar jobs, along with some glamor window fixes for specific outfits.
Some critical fixes Final Fantasy 14The new strategy board feature, the new Worqor Chirteh (Triumph) Frontline PVP mode, and the main scenario quest line of patch 7.4 were created with the December hotfix. Despite Square Enix's recent efforts, Final Fantasy 14 is still reeling due to server issues that have caused several players to disconnect from the game at seemingly random intervals. While the Christmas hotfix also fixed issues with mounts and Cosmic Exploration that could cause server crashes, persistent server issues and disconnection issues are largely isolated to Final Fantasy 14's North American data centers. The problem was intermittent Final Fantasy 14California servers since November, just before patch 7.4 launched on December 16th.
Ongoing FF14 server issues may have potential workarounds
Despite initial reports Final Fantasy 14North American servers have been experiencing DDoS attacks again after Patch 7.4, some players have reported that this may not be the case at all. When mass disconnection occurs in Aether, Primal, Crystal or Dynamis data centers, not every one FF14 the player is booted from the game servers. Although Final Fantasy 14The North American data centers are located in the Sacramento, California area, and each user connects to the servers through various nodes managed by NTT, the Japanese telecommunications company that Square Enix partners with. Final Fantasy 14 PlayStation players were reportedly not affected by these issues compared to PC and Xbox players. But that hasn't stopped players from watching when a server problem occurs.
WITH Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail'Since the last tier of raids launched on January 6th, some players have been looking for possible solutions and what can be done to alleviate the server issues. on Twitter Final Fantasy 14 content creator iTrolledU posted a thread that showed how effective VPNs like NordVPN and ExpressVPN were at keeping players connected to the game whenever there were server issues. Other redirect services like ExitLag, Cloudflare WARP, and Mudfish were also mentioned in iTrolledU's post, which is updated daily as of this writing. Given that high-end Final Fantasy 14 raids require players to have a smooth connection to the game's servers, time will tell when Square Enix fully resolves the ongoing server issues in North America.
