It is perhaps the hardest to beat next to the pacifist challenge. This guide has been updated with the character and weapon information added with the Spooky update as they are great options for this challenge.

How to beat the AFK Gaming Challenge in Megabonk

Before attempting the AFK Gaming Challenge v Megabonkplayers must make sure they understand the rules of the challenge. In the AFK Gaming Challenge, players will not be able to move or jump.

The only movement they are allowed is to turn. This means that the WASD and Space keys will not work, but players can still use the mouse to move their characters. It allows them to target certain enemies depending on the weapons they have chosen, but they will have very limited control.

To complete the AFK Gaming Challenge, players must survive until the Final Swarm. Therefore, they will have to survive without moving or jumping for a total of 10 minutes. Below, players will find helpful tips to prepare them for this performance.

The best builds for the AFK Gaming Challenge in Megabonk

Since players cannot move while completing the AFK Gaming Challenge, they quickly find themselves surrounded by enemies coming from all sides. Additionally, they don't get access to a lot of XP because they can't move to reach the shards, so they'll mostly be stuck with their first weapon for a while.

For these reasons, players will need to consider the strength and default weapon of the character they choose. Two characters have a clear advantage in the AFK Gaming Challenge, and that's it Megachad and Athena. In addition to having access to particularly useful weapons at the start of their run, their characters' abilities come in handy.

In the Spooky update, Roberto was added alongside his signature weapon, the Scythe. This character is another great choice for the AFK Gaming Challenge not only because of his weapon but also because of his unique ability.

Athena/Aegis – AFK Gaming Challenge strategy

The AegisAthena's default weapon is a riskier choice as enemies have to get up close and personal with this character in order to damage them. However, it's much easier to level up because they'll be killed close enough for her to grab the XP shards they drop when they die.

This isn't necessarily done with Athena, even if Aegis is her default character. However, she is the best character for this as her ability grants her spikes every time she levels up and also deals more damage the lower her health, making it easier to survive the early game if she gets hit by too many monsters.

The Cooldown Tom and Knockback Tom they are good combos with Aegis as they push back enemies and give her time to recharge her shield-like weapon.

Megachad/Aura – AFK Gaming Challenge strategy

Megachad's default weapon is Aurawhich creates a protective field around itself that is capable of harming those who step inside. This makes it much easier for Megachad to survive the early game when the weakest enemies appear. As if that wasn't enough, he can bend over enemies, preventing them from taking any damage and stunning them.

Once players collect their first XP shards, they should not invest in Aura right away. They need to get an alternate weapon so they can deal more damage to approaching enemies or enemies Tom attractionso they are able to grab XP shards that fall further away from Megachad.

Players won't want too many weapons here, as they need to invest in making the ones they have stronger to fend off stronger enemies when they start appearing. The Knockback Tom and weapons that can push enemies further and back into Megachad's aura are key. The Tornado is a good secondary weapon as it distracts enemies. When they upgrade it, its size, number of projectiles, as well as damage and knockback power will increase.

Roberto/Scythe – AFK Gaming Challenge Strategy

Roberto is a good candidate for the AFK Gaming Challenge due to his starting weapon and unique character abilities. The scythe cuts in a circle around the player, making it much easier to survive mobs coming from all directions. The Hoarder ability spawns a free chest every 60 seconds, giving players easy access to items – something that can be a game-changer in this challenge.

When you play as Roberto in the AFK Gaming Challenge, players will want to invest in Size Tom increase the reach of the Scythe, HP Regen has his health deteriorate rather quickly, and Knockback Tom pushing enemies away and giving him a chance to hit them with the scythe more than once. Another good choice would be tome Cooldown Tom so he is able to attack enemies faster and his Scythe can kill them before they get too close.

As for the optional weapons, players will want to go with them Aegis to be able to survive when enemies get too close, and Corrupted swordas it deals more damage the lower the player's HP, slashes back and forth, and pairs well with Size and Knockback.

Tips and tricks to complete the AFK Gaming Challenge in Megabonk

The characters, weapons, and bundles mentioned above can make it easier for players to reach the final swarm, but that's not all. There are other tips and tricks that are sure to help players survive those 10 minutes.

Familiarize yourself with the level

In Forest, players will face an initial, slowly approaching horde, and the enemies may vary. They will then face a mini-boss followed by a swarm. Then the enemies will slowly start pouring in. Eventually a swarm will appear followed by another mini-boss.

It's important for players to know the timing of each attack so they don't get caught off guard. They should have weapons that are strong enough to take out the boss without getting killed, but also be able to take on enough monsters at once to not be overwhelmed by the swarm. Here is the exact timing of each attack on the forest map:

7:00 – First mini-boss
6:00 – First swarm
3:00 – Second swarm
2:00 – Second miniboss
0:00 – Final Swarm

Hordes of monsters will vary and the challenge can be significantly harder depending on the first enemies that appear. Skeletons, goblins, bees, and slimes are much easier to take out compared to runners and explosive monsters.

As for the bosses, they'll have to face both the Stone Golem and Chunkham the Terrible – it's random which one appears first. The stone golem summons sharp rocks from the ground that send players flying, while the Chunkham tears apart a ball of mud and slows players' movements.

Buy Toggler

Once players have purchased 40 unlocks MegabonkToggler will appear in the store. It costs 50 silver, but can be quite useful if players are trying to get specific items for a run. Using the Toggler, players can visit the Unlock screen and deactivate any weapon, bundles, and items they have purchased.

This way, players can disable weapons and bundles that are not useful to AFK Gaming. Players won't get access to any items unless they're lucky, but if they do, they'll want to disable items that aren't useful.

There is a chance that players can reach the chest and open it. In this case it is extremely important to disable as many useless items as possible (in this situation) as this will increase their chances of getting a useful item and can be key to reaching the end of the run. There are two specific game-changing items in the AFK Gaming Challenge Megabonk:

Bonfire – Standing heals the player
Idle juice – The longer the player stands, the more damage they deal (up to +100 percent damage)

Get Excluded, Skipped and Reinstated Fees

Since it's not possible to disable all weapons, books, and items with the Toggler, players will also want to invest in upgrading their knockdown, skip, and recovery charges. That way, when given a choice between upgrades they don't want, they can simply refresh them until they get a better choice, disable them if they're completely useless, or skip them.

For example, since Agility Tome won't help at all during this run as players have to stay still, players should consider taking it out. The same goes for any items they might pick up or purchase (if they're lucky enough to get close to a Moai shrine or chest) that won't provide any benefits.
