Modulo carries immense hype, especially since it marked Gege's return to manga after the end of JJK. Fans were obviously very excited to see what Gege had to deliver and it's safe to say they weren't disappointed at all. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo's debut was so incredible that it left even One Piece in the dust. Fans around the world were able to read and discuss this monumental chapter, and it was clearly an incredible experience.

Beating One Piece by the return of a major manga isn't the most surprising news. However, the franchise's losses do not end there. One Piece was defeated by Chainsaw Man for the second year in a row. Chainsaw Man Chapter 167 was the most read chapter in 2024 and managed to become the second most read chapter on Manga Plus in 2025.
Chainsaw Man chapter 198 beat One Piece at 2925, while the latter finished third with chapter 1161. That's still impressive from One Piece, but fans expected more from God Valley chapters in terms of ranking.

The top three in 2025 were Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, Chainsaw Man, and One Piece. Several other series also performed quite well on Manga Plus. The rest of Manga Plus' top 10 most read chapters feature many fan favorite series. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21 was #4 followed by Dandadan Chapter 181 at #5.
Dragon Ball Super chapter 104 was the 6th and the last chapter of Kaiju Number 8 was the seventh. Black Clover chapter 379 was 8th while Spy x Family chapter 120 was 9th and finally the tenth most read chapter of the year was Otr of the Flame chapter 1.

That said, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has its own hype. The story focuses on new characters and doesn't rely on returning old characters to have an interesting story. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is as strong as his own line. The series doesn't even need the old characters, and that shows how strong Gege is as a writer.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is a hit, but it will end soon
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has proven to be insanely popular. Fans would expect nothing less from the successor to the story that was last year's biggest Shonen Jump manga series.
However, while Jujutsu Kaisen module it is loved worldwide, it will end soon. This is nothing new to fans. When it was first announced, Gege already made it clear that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo would be a short run. Fans were definitely hoping he would change his mind, but it doesn't look like that will be the case.
It turns out that Modulo is nearing its end. The final battles of Modulo, Yuka vs Dabura and Tsurugi vs Maru have already started. The only thing left at this point is Yuji's return to face Dabura. At most, the series has 10 to 15 chapters in store, maybe even less.
At the very least, Jujutsu Kaisen fans hope that Gege has more in store for the franchise, even after Modulo ends. A huge gap of time remained unexplored between Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Moduloand that's what fans believe Gege will dive into next. That's an exciting idea, but it remains to be seen if it actually happens or if Modulo is the final stop for Jujutsu Kaisen.
A sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is running in Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. The series takes place 68 years in the future, after the events of the Shinjuku Showdown. The main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo are Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandsons of Yuta and Maki. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 17 will be released on January 4, 2026.
