Fighting Arcs in Arc Raiders is hard enough already, especially the Rocketeers who can blast you from a distance. No matter what weapon you have, these drones are hard to hit and can take you out with one good hit. Despite this, Embark felt it would be fun to have players hit them with snowballs for the latest weekly trial.
The Winter Snap update has covered the top with snow, giving raiders the ability to throw snowballs at each other with glee. However, the final weekly challenge tasks you with throwing snowballs at the Rocketeers; not just one or two, but at least 16 snowballs, depending on when you attempt the exam. It goes without saying that this proved difficult for many players, but as always, the raiders found a few tricks to it.
How to Throw Snowballs at Rocketeers in Arc Raiders
If you're having trouble completing this challenge the traditional way, the Arc Raiders community has come up with some tricks to make it easier. The first one, introduced by Vipu2 on Reddit, involves a bit of skill and platforming, basically requiring you to fill your inventory with snowballs, then use the carbine to mount the Rocketeer and unload the snowballs onto it.
This method may sound simple, but getting that close to the Rocketeer isn't as easy as you think. Even using a carbine to mount can take a few tries, giving the Arc plenty of time to circle around you and unleash his arsenal. The second method requires a little more work, but is safer and does not require too much skill. Except maybe a good throwing arm.
I was wrong about Arc Raiders
Embark Studios is taking the extraction shooter mainstream with Arc Raiders.
This method, suggested by nrthlu, requires you to load snowballs on Dam Battlegrounds. They suggested doing it in the lower left part of the map, next to the water towers. There is also a hatch nearby, so take the key with you for a quick escape. Then head to the buried city along with a handful of Showstoppers and make your way to the top of the hospital.
The next step is to bait the Rocketeer by shooting at him and then hitting him with showstoppers until he hits the roof. Then all you have to do is unload all the snowballs onto the shuttle. If you happen to run out of it, there are three piles of snow on the roof of the hospital itself. The hardest part will be hitting the drone with the stoppers, but the rest is a piece of cake.
