Solo leveling is a story of South Korean origin originally created by a man known to fans as Chugong. The series started as a web novel and has evolved since then. It was turned into a manhwa and is now gradually turning into an anime. Solo leveling it definitely found a lot of success, but most of it came from overseas fans. The series hasn't really taken off in Japan yet, and this is probably due to Chugong's huge mistake when it comes to Japanese representation in his series.
