PC is the most popular gaming platform for GR readers

Gaming has always been a favorite pastime. From the early days of choosing which game to put your spaces in in the arcade, to the present day, when the biggest decision is which game system to get for your home setup.

The gaming space is as competitive as ever with Nintendo, Xbox and PlayStation all vying for your loyalty with exclusive consoles and new features. All the while, PC continues to offer the most customizable environment. So, which gaming platform do Ranters pledge their allegiance to?

The results are in and it's not far off! PC was named the most popular gaming platform for Game Rant readers with a dominance not seen since Clair Obscuro only in 2025! As far as consoles go, it was closer than you'd think!

Where do you plan to play video games the most in 2026?

Results of the poll on preferred game systems

  • PC — 62% / 1,623 votes

  • PlayStation — 15% / 398 votes

  • Others — 8% / 222 votes

  • Xbox – 8% / 216 votes

  • Nintendo — 6% / 169 votes

The message is crystal clear – Game Rant readers are PC gamers! While the console battle was hotly contested, the PC confirmed its dominance in our recent survey, with over 60% of voters planning to play their games on laptops and PCs this year. This isn't surprising given the accessibility PCs offer when it comes to custom builds and bypassing most of the restrictions of console exclusivity, but it's astounding how strongly this platform is favored.

Sony reigns supreme among consoles, with nearly 400 players choosing to use their PlayStation system to participate in their favorite past in 2026. Interestingly, this is closely followed by “others”, which could include VR systems, handheld consoles (except for the Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, who are still opting for good gaming platforms!)

Perhaps the biggest surprise and somewhat disappointing result is the low numbers for Nintendo players. Given that Nintendo is the latest console provider to release a new product, it's a bit of a surprise to see such a small representation for Switch and Switch 2 players. The Switch 2 got off to a somewhat shaky start in 2025, so Nintendo will be hoping to turn things around with some big releases in 2026.

With the argument settled, we turn our attention to the worlds LEGO and Pokemon! With the recent announcement of a collaboration between the two giants, which scene caught your attention the most?
