The fact that Diablo 4The Lord of Hatred expansion, which is expected to be released in 2026, did not surprise fans, but the fact that it will contain not one, but two classes was quite unexpected. In addition Diablo 4Paladin builds in season 11 were a hit with the early release of the class and offered new play paths that other classes didn't really allow or weren't as deep as the Auradin build. Now that the Lord of Hatred expansion is scheduled for release in just over three months, there is a lot of anticipation for what it will bring, as well as what kind of second class it will add.
Even before the reveal of the Lord of Hatred expansion, it was predicted and even expected by many that either the Skovos Isles or the Amazon class (or both) would return. The expansion confirms that Skovos is indeed the setting for Lord of Hatred, but Diablo 4The Amazon class may not be exactly what Blizzard has in store for the new version, if ever. Thematically, Amazon would be perfect for several reasons:
- Diablo 4 is a Diablo 2 successor more than is Diablo 3and ever since it came out, it's been trying to emulate the heights of the beloved ARPG.
- Diablo 2: ResurrectedAmazon's build left fans of the franchise wanting a deeper look at the class with visual upgrades Diablo 4 can offer.
-
The Amazon caste hails from the Skovos Islands, making it the perfect setting for a class return.
Why Diablo 4's 8th grade isn't an Amazon
However, many fans have pointed out that the most likely candidate is not an Amazon. There are several key reasons for this:
- Diablo 4The 's classes have gender options, and for reasons of tradition, there are no male Amazonian members.
-
The current selection of classes has only Diablo 4's Druid as a Willpower class, while each of the other main stats has two representatives. Amazon would be the third class in a dexterity based game.
- Strength: Barbarian, Paladin
- Dexterity: Rogue, Spiritborn
- Intelligence: Sorcerer, Necromancer
- Will-power: Druid
-
The Skovos Islands feature two main castes, the Amazons and the Oracles, born from the same story of two twin sisters searching for the blind eye. The Sightless Eye eventually gave the Oracle their divination powers, which they would retain even after the artifact was stolen.
-
Eighth grade silhouette in Diablo 4 has been shown and does not resemble an Amazon.
-
Spiritborn and Paladin, the two newest classes, are melee based with some ranged abilities. Amazon would follow the same pattern, while Oracle would be the first new caster since the game launched.
The best possible new Diablo 4 class is sitting right under the fans' noses
While very little is currently known about Diablo 4's next expansion, the game may be preparing for the return of an unexpected classic class.
What to expect from Diablo 4's second Lord of Hatred class
From Diablo 4The Paladin follows the same patterns as any other class in terms of how many skills it can choose from and how it can be built, it's safe to assume that the new class in Lord of Hatred will follow all of these principles. However, if this class is indeed an Oracle, which would make perfect sense given the context and environment, the game loop can be something completely different from the other classes:
-
The Oracle's divination abilities can include skills that deal damage after a short delay but with a larger reward.
-
Their psychic and magical abilities can provide similar capabilities to Shadow Priests World of Warcraftmuch like the Paladin, it shares some key abilities with the same class WoW. They may include:
-
Damaging abilities related to insanity or vision
-
Words of comfort or pain to heal allies and damage enemies, similar to Holy Word and Shadow Word
-
A way to grant Fortify to yourself and allies that can interact with the Willpower stat's Overpower bonus
-
-
Predicting the future could give Oracle the ultimate skill Diablo 4 which can be used on death, or perhaps a passive that allows Oracle to cheat death on cooldown
-
Oracle could be the first healer in Diablo 4which allows for more options in multiplayer activities
Since Blizzard owns both World of Warcraft and Diablo 4, and since the two versions have crossed over several times, even sharing class names and abilities, it makes sense that Oracle would take inspiration from WoW's Priest class.
These features would create a refreshing and unique gameplay loop in the game, as well as introduce an entirely new class that is not a staple of the franchise. Beloved classes from past games would still get their representation with the Paladin, while the Oracle would be a great addition, leaving the door slightly open for Amazons in the future.
