Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has had a generational award season. While it was stripped of wins at The Indie Game Awards, it cleaned up at The Game Awards in 2025, surpassing Baldur's Gate 3 and The Last of Us Part 2 for the most wins in the show's history. And of course, this is far from the only sweep.
Further analysis found that the game has now won more than 400 Game of the Year awards from across the industry and only needs a few more to surpass Elden Ring's record.
Things show no signs of slowing down either, as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home the top prize at The New York Game Awards last night, grabbing another gong.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wins top prize at The New York Game Awards
Last night the New York Videogame Critics Circle held their annual New York Game Awards. As has been the case so often over the past six weeks, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 walked home with the top prize, beating out competition from Blue Prince, Split Fiction, Despelote, Sword of the Sea, Silent Hill f, Hades 2, and Ghost of Yotei.
While the game wasn't nominated in as many categories as The Game Awards, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home wins in both categories it was nominated for.

In addition to the Big Apple Award for Best Play of the Year, Jennifer English won the Great White Way Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Maelle. She beat Adriyan Rae as Hazel in South of Midnight, Amelia Sargisson as Nora in Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, Alex Jordan as Jan Dolski in The Alters, Judy Alice Lee as Melinoë in Hades II and Erika Ishii as Atsu in Ghost of Yōtei for the award.
English's win is one of many she has personally achieved for her role in Clair Obscur, with other major accolades coming from The Game Awards and The Golden Joysticks. She is clearly the catalyst for a good game and has appeared in three of the last four Game of the Year winners at The Game Awards.
