PlayStation users subscribe to the premium tier PS Plus have a serious issue that prevents them from using one of the service's best features: cloud streaming. More specifically, the outage prevents PS Plus Premium subscribers from streaming any PlayStation 3 title from the classic catalog. Although some users have reportedly found a solution to the problem, it is somewhat convoluted and lengthy.
Since its redesign in 2022, PlayStation Plus has three tiers available, each with its own benefits. The lowest tier, known as PlayStation Plus Essential, is the most basic and cheapest of the three, costing $9.99 per month. The subscription includes free monthly games to keep for the duration of the active subscription, access to online multiplayer, exclusive discounts, cloud storage and more. The Extra and Premium tiers also include these benefits, as well as some extras like access to a game catalog that rotates regularly with new games arriving every month. Premium subscribers will also be able to stream a wide variety of classic games, one of the service's most popular perks.

PS Plus Premium users are frustrated as PS3 game streaming drops
As one of the most popular features of PlayStation Plus Premium, it's no surprise that subscribers are outraged that cloud streaming of classic PS3 games has been unavailable for several days now, with no indication of when it will be fixed. Players have posted many posts online expressing their frustration and asking why this one feature doesn't seem to work. According to one user, there is no error message when trying to stream a PS3 game. Instead, the game simply won't open when selected.
Another subscriber decided to contact PlayStation Support about the issue, and it seems the company is aware of the issue. “This issue only affects PS3 titles in the Classics catalog,” a PlayStation support representative told the user. They then explained how all the other cloud streaming features work normally. But, as the user rightly pointed out, streaming PS3 titles is part of the paid service, with some having a Premium subscription for that sole reason. Fortunately, it's on PlayStation's radar, as a support representative said the team is still working to fix the issue. No timeline has been shared for when the fix will be deployed, and the team is not offering any compensation to subscribers at the time of writing.
Another PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber discovered a workaround, but it's not guaranteed to work for everyone. Reddit user Snoo36143 says he discovered a solution specifically for Ratchet & Clank games, but there is speculation that it could work on other classic titles as well. Players will need to download the PlayStation Plus app to their computer, connect their DualShock 4 controller via Bluetooth, and then launch the app. Go to find the game and then launch it. Then connect the controller with a USB cable and run the game to create a save file. After that, players can go back to their PlayStation 5 and the first game in their collections should be the one being played on PC. Once selected, it should start as usual. While this is a pretty lengthy fix, PlayStation hasn't given any official information on when the fix might arrive, so this might be the best subscribers get for a while.
While the cloud streaming outage is certainly annoying, there are plenty of other games on PlayStation Plus Premium to keep subscribers busy in the meantime. This week alone, Sony added nine new games to its games catalog, giving Extra and Premium users a wealth of new titles to try out, including A Quiet Place: The Way Forward, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Resident Evil Village (just in time for launch Resident Evil Requiem next month) and many more.
