Redacted Regiment Warbond in Helldivers 2 finally gave fans suppressed weapons and other tools that make stealth a viable tactic. Along with the stealth changes implemented by the patch that was part of this Warbond, players can now clear enemy bases without being detected. However, such a specialized play style may not resonate with every player Helldivers 2and if you're not particularly interested in being squeaky clean, the question remains: is Redacted Regiment Warbond worth getting?
Helldivers 2: The Best Weapons to Use Against The Illuminate
Here are the best weapons by category to tackle all Illuminate faction units in Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2 Redacted Regiment Warbond Review
To answer the question: yes, Redacted Regiment is a good addition to the game, but only if you plan on playing stealth. Not nearly as good as others HD2 Warbonds like Democratic Detonation or other top tier options because of their niche. All Redacted Regiment offers are tailored for stealth and they lose a lot of value once enemies start shooting back or get close to you. Let's break this Warbond down for what it actually provides.
Weapons: R-72 censor and AR-59 suppressor
Similar to the M7S SMG z Hello EPISODE Warbond, these weapons are equipped with suppressors that are effective in silently eliminating targets. Both have light armor penetration, meaning you'll need to aim for weak spots if you want to get the most out of them.
As mentioned earlier, these weapons lose a ton of value in head-to-head encounters. This is because the Censor and Suppressor aren't really that different from the Diligence and Liberator Carbine.. They function more or less the same as the other two weapons, but with slower projectiles and a lower rate of fire in the case of the Suppressor. Of course, the logic works both ways, but don't expect a censor or suppressor to take you down once things get messy.
It's also worth noting that the Censor greatly outperforms the Suppressor when it comes to stealth. If you want to be sneaky, you absolutely need to one-shot enemies, and Suppressor can't take out Devastators or Berserkers with one headshot.
Both Censor and Suppressor are impractical for stealth against Illuminate and Terminids since most of their units have high health.
The Armor Passive: Reduced signature
Reduced Signature makes you 50% quieter when moving and reduces enemy visual range to you by 40%. When wearing armor that uses this passive, your enemies are practically blind and deaf. It sounds great on paper, but again, it's completely worthless once the enemy starts fighting back.
Secondary Weapon: P-35 Re-Educator
This is easily the worst part of Warbond. It's a dart gun that fires projectiles infused with gas, meaning it can wreak the same havoc as other gas weapons. However, firing this weapon at an enemy will alert all other enemies to your locationmaking it ironically useless for stealth. The damage it deals is also poor, sitting at just 60 on hit and 25 per second with the gas effect.
Lure Mine
Lure Mines are pretty good just because of how well they distract the enemy. By placing one of these you can cause a whole bunch of enemies to look at it instead of you, giving you time to run away or wipe out all your targets with something else. Mines do good damage on their own and you can even use them against larger targets like Impalers in distress.
This is one of the better offerings from Redacted Regiment Warbond and shines best against Terminids and Illuminate where you'll have to worry more about hordes of melee enemies that can get right in your face. They aren't bad against Automatons, but bots can end up shooting and hitting mines, causing them to explode and lose their effect without dealing any damage to distant enemies.
Support Weapon: C4 Pack
Unlike Reeducator, The C4 Pack might just be the best part HD2 Redacted Warbond Regimentbut still a little disappointing. It does its job of blowing things up well, but there is one catch: C4 explosives cannot destroy objects such as jammers, detectors, or even bile titan holes. Its main use is to stealthily destroy bases or blow up heavily armored enemies such as factory riders, tanks and more.
The C4 Pack also counts as a support weapon and you must carry a backpack to use it. Since every C4 die is rolled, the servo enabled armor perk will work with it.
At the time of writing, if you're a lobby host, the C4 Pack will alert enemies if you throw one at them, making it difficult to use stealthily. Whether or not this is a bug has yet to be confirmed, although it is likely.
Booster: Hidden insert
Like other Hellpod-based boosters, The hidden insert just isn't that useful compared to the likes of Vitality Boost or the ubiquitous Hellpod Space Optimization booster. This will cause all your Hellpods to develop a cloud of smoke on impact, hiding your location and blinding enemies. Stealth insertion is definitely more useful than the others as it has no negative effect on you, but the smoke clouds will mess with the aim of the patrol weapon. If someone on your team plans to bring sentry weapons, it may be better not to use this booster.
